  4. Excellence All candidates for promotion to associate professor and to professor will be evaluated on three dimensions: research, teaching, and professional service. Professional service includes both administrative and (where appropriate) clinical service.

Chair presents the candidates but does NOT vote and is not present for discussion/vote Address teaching, research and service (administrative and clinical) Clearly state evidence to justify the promotion what is the reputation of the individual outside CWRU campuses? Must contain a vote Must explain votes that are negative or abstentions

  12. Candidate CV Required to use CWRU template heading are key: international, national, regional and local activates Date the CV Update the CV

  13. Personal Statement No more than 3 pages Address research, teaching and service Begin with strongest area Use the standards and help the reviewers appreciate your achievements DO NOT USE ABBREVIATIONS!

  14. Teaching Portfolio Required for NTT Faculty with Teaching as the primary area of excellence Strongly encouraged for all other candidates No more than 25 pages Detail learners, scholarly approach and scholarship in teaching

  15. Teaching Evaluations and Summary Required Chair (or delegate) must create a summary of evaluations for subsequent reviewers, cannot be the candidate If there are issues, chair should address in nomination letter

  16. Key Reprints Up to 5 These are publications, not power point presentations, abstracts, or posters

  17. Referees 18 external arm s length referees CVs/Biosketches only Research colleagues for team scientist only Teaching colleagues (4) Student/Trainees (10) Service (4) Chief Residents from last 3 years if applicable

  18. Arms length No professional or personal interest in candidate If colleague, collaborator, co-author, can become arm s length after 7 years If team science (numerous collaborators on a publication) indicate on excel sheet If PhD mentor never arm s length
