  3. INTRODUCTION A Vertex The Triangle is a shape with three angles and three sides. Side Angle B C A Triangle has three sides- AB, BC, CA A Triangle has three corners or vertices- A,B, & C A triangle has three angles- <BAC or <A, <CBA or <B & <ACB or <C

  4. ASSESSMENT Fill in the Blanks in each figure A X P B C Q Y Z R Sides ------ ------ --- Sides ------ ------ --- Sides ------ - ----- --- Angles ------ ------ --- Angles ------ ------ --- --- Angles ------ ------ --- Vertices ------ ------ --- Vertices ------ ------ --- Vertices ---- -- Value Points Marks for each value points. Total Marks AB, BC, CA <A, <B, <C A, B, C 1 1 1 Triangle ABC 3 same for other two triangle

  5. PROPERTIES OF TRIANGLE PROPERTY-1 Sum of three angles <PQR <QRP <RPQ P 60 0 60 0 60 0 1800 Q R P 900 450 450 1800 Q R The sum of measure three angles of a triangle is always 180 0

  6. ASSESSMENT Find the missing angle in each of the following 90 0 ? ? 25 0 ? 90 0 47 0 35 0 60 0 Value Points Marks for each value points. Total Marks 1 1 1 600+35 0 =950 I. Triangle I. 1800-950 =850 Missing angle =850 3 Same marking procedure can be followed for others two triangles

  7. PROPERTY-2 A AB= 4 cm BC= 5 cm AC= 3 cm B C Lets us add the sides in pairs. AB+BC=9 cm AC= 3 cm 9 is greater than 3 BC+AC=8 cm AB=4 cm 8 is greater than 4 AB+AC=7cm BC=5 cm 7 is greater than 5 Sum of any two side of a triangle is always greater than the third side.

  8. ASSESSMENT Is it possible to draw a triangle with line segment of length given below? (a).3 cm, 4 cm, 7 cm (b). 6cm, 8 cm, 7 cm (c). 12 cm, 12 cm, 12 cm (d). 4 cm, 4 cm, 9cm Value Points Marks for each value points. 1 1 Total Marks NO 3cm + 4cm=7cm 2 a) Same marking procedure can be followed.

  9. CLASSIFICATION OF TRIANGLES Triangles are classified in two ways- According to sides . According to angles. I. Classification according to sides If all the three sides of a triangle are of different length, the triangle is called a scalene triangle

  10. A triangle whose any two sides are of same length, is called a Isosceles triangles A triangle whose all the three sides are of equal length, is called aEquilateral triangle

  11. II. Classification according to angles. A triangles whose all the angles are acute, is called an Acute Angled Triangle

  12. A triangles whose any one angle is a right angle, is called a Right Angled Triangle. A triangles whose any one angle is a obtuse angle, is called a Obtuse Angled Triangle.

  13. ASSESSMENT Identify the acute, obtuse & right angled triangle Fill in the blanks. 1) In a isosceles triangle, any _____ sides are equal in length. 2) Any one angle of a obtuse angled triangle is ____ than 90 0 . 3) The sides of an ____ triangle are of equal length. 4) An obtuse angled triangle has ____ obtuse angle.

  14. Marking scheme Marks for each value points. Value Points Total Marks Q.NO 1) 2 1 1 2) Greater 1 1 3) Equilateral triangle 1 1 4) 2 1 1

  16. For a rangoli competition the four participants of vedvyas house drew the following rangoli. They drew 6 equilateral triangle of side 8 cm each. A F E C B D a) What is the length of each side of the equilateral triangle ABC & DEF?. b) What value of the children is depicted here ?

  17. Marking scheme Marks for each value points. Value Points Total Marks Q.NO a) 24cm 1 1 b) unity 1 1

  18. High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS)

  19. Fills in the blanks . a) Number of vertices of a triangle has ____ . b) If a closed figure is made of three line segment, then the figure is called ____ . c) If two sides of a triangle are of equal length, then the triangle is called ____ triangle . d) In an obtuse angled triangle only ____ angle is obtuse . e) In a triangle all the three angles are less 90 0 , then the triangle is called ____ triangle . . If the measure of one angle of a right angled triangle is 480 .find the others two angles

  20. Marking scheme Marks for each value points. Value Points Total Marks Q.NO a) 3 1 1 b) Triangle 1 1 c) Isosceles 1 1 d) 1 1 1 e) Acute Angled Triangle 1 1 WORD PROBLEM One angle is 90 & another is 1800 - (480+900)=420 1 2 3

  21. CLASS ROOM ACTIVITY Triangles Learning objectives:- To learn triangles and its various aspects and its uses. Materials Required:- A pack of playing cards. Procedure:- A groups of five students and many same groups will be formed. A pack of playing cards will distributed in each group. They will have to prepare pyramid of triangle shape. Observation:- a) Identify the type of triangle formed? b) Weather the base of a triangle are equal or not?

  25. SUMMARY A closed figure bounded by three line segments is called a Triangle. The sum of the angles of a triangle is 1800 . Sum of any two sides of a triangle is greater than the third side. According to sides the triangle has been classified in three types . i.e. equilateral , isosceles & scalene triangle. Equilateral Triangle :- All the sides are equal. Isosceles Triangle :- Any two sides are equal. Scalene Triangles :- All the sides are unequal / different. According to angles the triangle also classified into three types. i.e. acute angled, right angled & obtuse angled triangle. Acute Angled Triangle :- All the three angles are acute angle (< 900). Right Angled Triangle :- Any one of the three right angle. Obtuse Angled Triangle :- any one of the three is obtuse angle.(>900).
