In this session, the Jisc licensing intelligence team discusses insights, trends, and strategies related to the total cost of ownership in academic publishing. Topics covered include the evolution of business models, article-level metadata collection, and evaluation of transitional agreements. The team aims to provide comprehensive, quality-assured data to support effective data access and reuse, establish common frameworks for interoperability, and inform negotiation strategies to manage expenditure. The Jisc APC/Total Cost of Ownership exercise is conducted annually to oversee institutional expenditure on open access publishing and align with financial cycles.
