The Stick Man By Julia Donaldson
Lets listen to the story of The Stick Man! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUdtUIr5jrk Here is the video link to help. When you are listening to the story, I want you to think of what a rhyme is and talk about this with your grown-ups.
What is a rhyming word? How do we know when something is rhyming? A rhyme always has the same sound as another. For example, The right kind of stick, for my favourite trick. Did you notice the rhyme in this sentence? What was it?
What I would like you to do is to listen to all of the rhyming words and try to write a list of rhymes! Here are some of the rhymes that I found in the book I m a stick man, that s me, and I want to go to my family tree. DOGS MUST BE KEPT ON A LEAD, at last the games over, and stick man is freed. Can you explain to your grown-ups why you think these words rhyme?
Task! The super tricky worksheet will ask you to write a list of as many rhymes as you can hear in the story. Your challenge will be to try and write your own rhyme! The tricky worksheet will ask you to write a list of five rhymes that you can hear in the story. I don t expect the full sentences apart from in the challenge part of the worksheet. And the other worksheet asks you to list as many rhyming words as you can!
