Colossians 3:8-9
“But now you yourselves are to put off all
these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy,
filthy language out of your mouth. Do not
lie to one another, since you have put off the
old man with his deeds …”.

Colossians 3:12-14
“Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and
beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness,
humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing
with one another, and forgiving one another,
if anyone has a complaint against another;
even as Christ forgave you, so you also must
do. But above all these things put on love,
which is the bond of perfection.”

Colossians 3:12-14
“Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and
beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness,
humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing
with one another, and forgiving one another,
if anyone has a complaint against another;
even as Christ forgave you, so you also must
do. But above all these things put on
love
,
which
is the bond of perfection
.”

Without choosing to put on the godly
clothing types of characteristics, our
natural bent will revert to wearing our old
clothing … the clothing that’s saturated
with natural, sinful characteristics.

Colossians 3:15-17
“And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to
which also you were called in one body; and be
thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you
richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing
one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual
songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the
Lord. And whatever you do in word or deed, do
all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks
to God the Father through Him.”

Colossians 3:15-17
“And
let the peace of God rule in your hearts
, to
which also you were called in one body; and be

“God the Holy Spirit: His Filling.”

Lewis Sperry Chafer Revised by John Walvoord

“It is clear from Scripture that a Christian
may be genuinely saved without being filled
with the Spirit, and the filling of the Spirit is
therefore not a part of salvation itself.”

“The filling of the Spirit may be defined
as a spiritual state where the Holy Spirit
is fulfilling all that He came to do in the
heart and life of the individual believer. It
is not a matter of acquiring more of the
Spirit, but rather of the Spirit of God
acquiring all of the individual.”

“The filling of the Spirit is, accordingly,
accomplished in every believer when he is fully
yielded to the indwelling Holy Spirit, resulting in a
spiritual condition in which the Holy Spirit
controls and empowers the individual. While
there may be degrees of manifestation of the filling
of the Spirit and degrees of divine power, the
central thought in the filling is that the Spirit of
God is able to operate in and through the
individual without hindrance, accomplishing
God’s perfect will for that person.”

Ephesians 4:30
“And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of
God, by whom you were sealed for the
day of redemption.”

Ephesians 4:30
“And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of
God, by whom you were sealed for the
day of redemption.”

1 Thessalonians 5:19
“Do not quench the Spirit.”

“From the nature of the filling of the Spirit, it may
be concluded that the wide difference in spiritual
experience observed in Christians and the various
degrees of conformity to the mind and will of God
may be traced to the presence or absence of the
filling of the Spirit. One desiring to do the will of
God must accordingly enter fully into the privilege
that God has given him in being indwelt by the
Spirit and having the capacity to yield his life to
the Spirit of God completely.”

Ephesians 5:25-27
“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ
also loved the church and gave Himself for
her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her
with the washing of water by the word, that
He might present her to Himself a glorious
church, not having spot or wrinkle or any
such thing, but that she should be holy and
without blemish.”

Ephesians 5:25-27

with
the washing of water by the word
, that
He might present her to Himself a glorious
church, not having spot or wrinkle or any
such thing, but that she should be holy and

Romans 12:2
“And do not be conformed to this world,
but be transformed by the renewing of
your mind, that you may prove what is
that good and acceptable and perfect will
of God.”

Hebrews 4:12
“For the word of God is living and
powerful, and sharper than any two-
edged sword, piercing even to the
division of soul and spirit, and of joints
and marrow, and is a discerner of the
thoughts and intents of the heart.”

Colossians 3:15-17
“And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to
which also you were called in one body; and be
thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you
richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing
