EUROPEAN FORCES SWIM LEAGUE NEW Meet Formats & Events NEW Recognized Events Short Distance 10&U: 25m Free, Breast, Back and Fly 13 19: 50m Free, Breast, Back, Fly, 100 IM All: 4x25 Relays Long Distance 12&U: 100m Breast, Back and Fly 13-19: 200m Breast, Back and Fly All: 4x100 Relays Not all new events are Championship events but new shorter events give beginner swimmers a stepping stone to begin competition All of the events listed in this chart are eligible for ribbons and points

EUROPEAN FORCES SWIM LEAGUE NEW Meet Formats & Events Host Teams now can design meets to fit the needs of their swimmers Meet Events and Order of Events will be listed in the Meet Announcement Teams DO NOT have to follow a standard format or order of events Sanctioned Meet = Minimum of 20 events, 10 of which must be Championship Meet Events Will make each meet a little different -Adds variety & additional events during regular season meets Meet Hosts will set entry limits for each meet (up to 6 individual events per swimmer) Not all meets will have every EFSL Recognized event Coaches and swimmers (and parents) need to look at the meet schedule and plan to attend meets with events that their athletes want to participate in during the season. Examples: Standard Meet A Pentathlon Long Distance Prep Meet Standard Meet B Mini-Meet (12 &U) Sprint Special A Standard Meet C Senior Meet (13+) Sprint Special B

EUROPEAN FORCES SWIM LEAGUE New Long Distance Events Adds more variety and middle distance events to our meets 10 & Under: MOVE 200 free SDC LDC 12 & Under: ADD 100 breast, 100 back & 100 fly 13-19: ADD 200 breast, 200 back & 200 fly ADD relays 4x100 Freestyle Relay 4x100 Medley Relay TWO relay age groups: 12 & Under, 13-19

  7. EUROPEAN FORCES SWIM LEAGUE New Long Distance Champs Events 5 individual events for the meet no more than 3 per day plus 1 relay each day

EUROPEAN FORCES SWIM LEAGUE Mixed Gender Seeding Host Teams now can decide to run meets with boys and girls SEEDED together Boys and Girls still COMPETE separately for results but swim together This means that boys and girls are seeded together, slowest to fastest (or fastest to slowest), in the same event, without regard to gender. Once the combined event is complete, the results are tabulated and girls and boys results are published and awarded separately. Provides better competition -Allows athletes to swim next to those with most similar times Speeds up a meet because it will reduce empty lanes Seeding information will be provided in the Meet Announcement This is OPTIONAL and teams will decide whether to utilize this mechanism

  9. EUROPEAN FORCES SWIM LEAGUE Mixed Gender Seeding Traditional Seeding Results are the SAME Mixed Gender Seeding Swimmers with similar times that would have been spread out across 3 different heats are now swimming side-by-side for better competition Eliminated an extra heat

EUROPEAN FORCES SWIM LEAGUE Coach of Record Guidelines All swimmers must have a Coach of Record at each meet they attend Required when they submit meet entries Coach of Record can be: 1) Team Coach 2) Coach from another EFSL Team 3) Swimmer s Parent Parents acting as Coach of Record should be the EXCEPTION. Preferred option is for another EFSL coach for another team to represent swimmers when none of their team coaches are present at a meet. EFSL Checklist for Parents and Coaches to ensure they know what to expect and what is required of them before, during and after a meet if acting as their team s Coach of Record. EUROPEAN FORCES SWIM LEAGUE EFSL All-Stars The EFSL Season Pentathlon Awards will now be the EFSL All-Stars Top 6 swimmers in each Championship Age Group Based upon each swimmer s 5 highest ranking times from ALL EVENTS Will recognize excellence is all events (Short and Long Distance), not just the events in a Pentathlon

EUROPEAN FORCES SWIM LEAGUE ELIMINATION OF PULL-UP TIMES FOR SDC Short Distance Champs will now only have Qualification Times Operate similar to Long Distance Champs NEW Qualification Times will be announced prior to the season Simplifies entry process Eliminates uncertainty for those with Pull-up times waiting to see if they ll be able to attend

EUROPEAN FORCES SWIM LEAGUE NEW 13-year-old age group for Championship meets For Championship Meets ONLY Split apart the 13-14 year old age group into TWO separate age groups Allows for better transition to longer events for 13 yr old swimmers Minimized impact of physical differences due to growth and development between 13 and 14 yr old swimmers Keeps age group size consistent across the league Championship Meets: 8&U, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15-16 & 17-19 Regular Season (including Divisionals): 8&U, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16 & 17-19
