Southwest Midget Football League *League board & ADs meet monthly to discuss bylaws and game day changes *First league to require all football coaches be certified by USA football *First league to mandate AED/CPR training for all head football and cheer coaches; 28 members of our board & coaching staff are currently signed up for the certification class *Partnered with Illinois Heart Rescue who donated 13 AEDs to each organization in our league *We play our games on Saturdays or Sundays. Schedules will come out at the end of June. *Weigh-ins: Week 1, Week 5, 1st week of playoffs-Mandatory

Practice Practice is held at Oak Lawn high school main field for all levels Practice will be held Monday thru Friday 6pm-8pm (preseason) Practice will be held Tues, Weds, and Thurs 6pm-8pm (inseason) Kids need to be on time for practice Kids need to be at practice If two or more practices are missed in one week or excessive tardiness the head coach has the option to bench the player for the game. This is a team sport we have to support each other.

14. Safety We have safety as our top priority 2023 Season upgrades include Upgraded Varsity Helmets Use of Guardian caps in practice League provided AED to be kept on the sidelines All head coaches at minimum are AED/CPR certified per league mandate

Coaches All our Coaches are USA Football certified which includes Concussion protocol Proper teaching techniques Safety protocol Abuse protocol All coaches submit to a background check and have been vetted by our coaching staff. Coaches and players will have access to HUDL for game film and review

17. CHEERLEADING SQUADS Our cheerleading program is broken down into (5) squads Mighty Mites (PK-K) - MUST be 5 years of age by the start of the season. Widgets ( 1st & 2nd Grade) PeeWees (3rd & 4th Grade) Lightweights (5th & 6th Grade) Varsity (7th & 8th Grade)

18. CHEERLEADING PROGRAMS This year, we are pleased two offer two cheerleading programs. Due to the fact that we are a recreational cheerleading program, ALL cheerleaders will participate in Sideline Cheerleading. SIDELINE - Sideline Cheerleading is a discipline of cheer that involves athletes who cheer in support of youth/recreational sports, most often football. COMPETITION (OPTIONAL) - Our Competition Cheerleaders along with our Mighty Mite Cheerleaders have the opportunity to compete locally against other cheerleaders within the local Southwest Midget Football League. In addition, the Oak Lawn Outlaws are a proud member of the Illinois Cheerleading Association (ICA ICA provides competitions attended by organization statewide, not just local. ICA has also developed and promoted a State Championship that is held annually in the month of December. The

20. CHEERLEADING COMMITMENT Mighty Mites (PK & K) Practices will be held: Tuesdays & Thursdays from 5:30-6:30pm starting August 1, 2023 - November 5, 2023. (Grades 1-8) SIDELINE ONLY Widgets (Grades 1 & 2) Practices will be held Monday-Thursday from 6:00-7:30pm starting July 31st. Practices will drop to ONLY Thursdays beginning the week of 8/28/23. PeeWees (Grades 3 & 4) Practices will be held Monday-Thursday from 6:00-8:00pm starting July 31st. Practices will drop to ONLY Thursdays beginning the week of 8/28/23. Lightweights (Grades 5 & 6) Practices will be held Monday-Thursday from 6:00-8:00pm starting July 31st. Practices will drop to ONLY Thursdays beginning the week of 8/28/23. Varsity (Grades 7 &8) Practices will be held Monday-Thursday from 6:00-8:00pm starting July 31st. Practices will drop to ONLY Thursdays beginning the week of 8/28/23.

CHEERLEADING COMMITMENT CONTINUED (Grades 1-8) ICA COMPETITION Grades 1 and 2 Practices will drop to ONLY Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday starting the week of 8/28/23 - 12/3/23 Grades 3-8 Practices will drop to ONLY Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday starting the week of 8/28/23 - 12/3/23 * Practice days are tentative and are subject to change at any time. All Competitions are MANDATORY The week of ANY competition, practice is MANDATORY

22. CHEERLEADING ATTENDANCE POLICY This year, the Outlaws Cheerleading Program are implementing an Attendance Policy. All cheer parents will be provided with a copy tonight. In order to provide a safe and effective learning environment, coaches will need all athletes at practice. Attendance is very important. Each cheerleader plays a vital role on a team and missing someone prevents their teammates from practicing safe and effective stunting, formations, etc. Absences impact the entire team as cheer is a team sport.

23. CHEERLEADING BOARD, COACHES & TEAM MOMS Introduction of Cheer Board, Coaches and Team Moms The women before you are all volunteers. They are parents, of cheerleaders, football players or both. This season, they will dedicate countless hours to your children and will put forth a tremendous about of hard work and effort. Our end goal working together with all of you is to provide an amazing, rewarding and fun experience for our children because that is what it is all about in our Outlaw Family.
