The EU Settlement Scheme o Administered by the Home Office o Open for EU, EEA or Swiss citizen s to make an application o Citizens have until 30thJune 2021 to apply (Deal) or 31st December 2020 (No Deal) o Citizens need valid identity documents before applying o Three part process Identity, Residency & Criminality/Suitability o Status granted will depend on length of residency

What Citizens Advice are doing o Providing a national helpline for EU Citizens and the Helpline number is 0800 916 9847. o Helpline is open from 09:00 to 17:00 from Monday to Friday with a voicemail facility for out of hours. o There are 24 dedicated advisers spread across the country working in partnership with other agencies to provide support to the most vulnerable clients. o We have a solicitor-led service that will deal with any complex cases.

The Application Process Two types of applications: Settled Status: continuously living in the UK for 5 years Pre-Settled Status: living in the UK for less than 5 years It is crucial that citizen s apply for settled status once pre-settled status has ran out o Citizens are encouraged, wherever possible, to use available UK Government resources https://www.gov.uk/eusettledstatus. o Citizens Advice is looking to support those with complex support needs.

Claiming benefits and getting help with housing EU citizens with pre-settled status can continue to claim benefits and get help with housing from their local council until 31 December 2020 After that date, some benefits like Universal Credit, Pension Credit and Child Benefit might stop if they don t have settled status. They might not be able to get help with housing from their local council. However, the government are trying to implement benefit entitlement for citizens with pre-settled status and their families. There is no legal basis for this at the moment.
