  2. ABSTRACT NOUNS L.O. Can I apply what I have learned about abstract nouns?

  3. EXAMPLE Adjectives can be changed to abstract nouns. This makes our description more effective and diverse. Have a look at this example: Raphael was fearful. Fearful is the adjective. Instead we could write: Raphael was overcome with fear. Fear is an abstract noun.

  5. WHICH OF THESE SENTENCES HAS MORE IMPACT? The young girl was very wise, it shocked everyone. The young girl s wisdom was shocking to all who met her. He was a brilliant mathematician. In mathematics lessons, his brilliance shone. The castle was very beautiful. The castle had a unique beauty.

  6. QUICK TASK Change these sentences to make them more powerful, using abstract nouns instead of adjectives: He was very intelligent. She was very talented. The school was very competitive. The dog was excitable. The cat was extremely lazy.

  7. YOUR MAIN TASK You are going to write a paragraph about exploring this place. You must use at least 4 abstract nouns! (this is a chance to really show off some of the detailed writing you can do too)
