Nutrition-Congregate Meals Served at the Senior Activity Centers (SAC) Monday-Friday. Those 60 years and over make a donation. Meals are available for anyone under 60, but they must pay the full cost ($6.) People make a meal reservation by noon the day before in order to eat at a SAC. In FY2015, 1183 people were served and 18,762 meals were served through the program. Monthly menu meets nutritional standards set by the Maryland Department of Aging. Meals are prepared by a contractual caterer who has a 1 year contract with 2 option years. Contract is bid out at least every 3 years.
Nutrition-Home Delivered Meals Provides good nutrition, a well-fare check and opportunity for socialization for seniors who are often isolated. Served to homebound seniors 60+ years of age. Must not be driving or using public transportation. Must qualify through an in-home assessment process. No financial qualifiers. Daily (M-F) delivery of a ready to eat meal or 1 delivery/week of 5 frozen meals. Average # served: 220-230 people. In FY2015, 48,600 meals were served through the program.
