February Wellness Program for Students
This February wellness program focuses on mental well-being, physical health, and mindfulness for students. Each week covers a different wellness topic with activities and discussions to promote self-care and overall wellness. Students engage in tasks, discussions, and assignments aimed at improving their physical activity, mental health, and self-care practices.

February GOE Wellness Taking Care of YOURSELF
Welcome & Overview This month students will focus on the importance of mental well-being, physical well-being and mindfulness. Week One This week will set the tone for the entire month of February. Present your class with the following questions: What comes to mind when you hear the word wellness List ways we can take care of ourselves. Weeks Two - Four Each week you will focus on a different wellness topic: Physical Wellness ( Week of February 7th ) Mental Wellness ( Week of February 14th ) Mindfulness ( Week of February 21st ) Start each class session with the following questions ( Weeks 2-4) What did you do to take care of yourself last week? ( share with class or partner) How do you plan to take care of yourself this week?
Week One Wellness
Wellness Wellness is defined as the act of practicing healthy habits on a daily basis to attain better physical and mental health outcomes. Class Discussion: Class Assignments: Watch Video on Wellness Have students discuss ways people can take care of themselves to improves wellness and well-being. Visit friends, exercise, get rest, eat healthy etc.) Show students the Wellness Pyramid, discuss ways they can improve their overall wellness as illustrated on the pyramid. Have students create their own Wellness Pyramid the My Activity Pyramid worksheet this template. Students should think through activities they can commit to for each level of the pyramid. Share with group. 1. 2. 1. 2. ***Take Home Assignment*** Bingo Boost. For the month of February, students will be asked to complete self care task from their Bingo Boost card to practice taking care of themselves. Each week at the beginning of class students will share as a class or in pairs which task they completed. Bingo Boost can be found with this months materials.
Week Two Physical Well-Being
Physical Well-Being Physical Well-being is much more than good health. It is the direct result of lifestyle choices and behaviors around sleep, diet, physical activity, hygiene, and relaxation Physical activity and exercise can have immediate and long term health benefits . Class Discussion: Class Assignments: Get Moving. Take time to incorporate a quick 3 -minute warm up. Have students create their Physical Wellness Plan using this template. Here is a sample plan. Students do not have to limit their plan to just exercise and eating healthy. Encourage them to includes hygiene and sleep habits that will improve their physical wellbeing. After the last assignment share the Emotion Scavenger Hunt assignment students will need to complete before your next meeting.. Open class with discussion on task completed from bingo boost (5 mins) Provide detailed information about Physical well being? Physical activity is often the topic of discussion when talking about physical well-being. Another important part is hygiene. Play this video that talks more about hygiene. Ask students to talk about how they stay active? What do they enjoy doing to stay physically fit ( play sports, swimming etc.) 1. 1. 2. 2. 3. 4. 3. Take Home Assignment Students should continue to complete self care task from their Bingo Boost Students should complete Emotions Scavenger Hunt for next session on. Emotion Scavenger Hunt Work can be found with this months materials
Week Three Mental Well-Being
Mental Well-Being Your mental well-being is about your thoughts and feels and how you cope with everyday. Like physical well-being, mental well-being is equally important to your overall health and wellness. Class Discussion: Open Discussion on bingo boost task (3 mins) Discuss Emotions Scavenger Hunt Assignment. Share with class or partner. Watch Video on Mental Well Being? Talk about how social media can affect mental wellness. Class Assignments: Complete How are you feeling worksheet. This will help students to identify and share their mental well being. Share ways students can protect their mental wellness. Putting it all together. Create a plan for yourself. How will you continue to improve your mental well being? Ask student to select 10 items from the template. 1. 1. 2. 2. 3. 4. 3. Take Home Assignment Students should continue to complete their Bingo Boost self care task.
Week Four Mindfulness
Mindfulness Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what s going on around us. Class Discussion: Class Assignments: Complete mindfulness activity 2. Complete Control Circles Activity. This talks about how to maintain mental health identifying things you can or cannot control. 3. 10 Minute Mindful Reflection Worksheet. Allows student to focus on areas in life that are going well. 1. Discuss Bingo Boost task ( 2 mins) Watch short video on mindfulness Discuss mindfulness with your class.
