Fluency and MOY data 69.2% out of 141 students are at or above grade level benchmarks for fluency (Benchmark at this point of the year is 122 words per minute) 70% average on the MOY Reading Benchmark 57.4 % scored a 70% or higher 69.2 % scored within the 60 - 100% range
Why is reading fluency important? Better fluency leads to greater understanding, and greater understanding leads to lifelong learning! Strategies/Resources: - Have your child read a page aloud to you, stuffed animal or a pet each night - Model reading fluently to your child - Rereading the same text actually improves fluency! - Song lyrics are an easy way to get reluctant readers to practice - Reader s theater - Read, read, read!
