Recommendations Use of Technology to detect underground facilities Ground Penetrating Radar 3 D (GPR3D) equipment Maps underground facilities to GIS and CAD (Computer Aided Designs) applications Developed by ITU Kenya Roads Act to be amended to ensure other stakeholders are informed prior to any Road works that will affect underground infrastructure Special Police Unit to deal cable theft/damage by thieves and saboteurs AFRALTI

Recommendations (contd) Modern Way leave Management One Central Authorizing Agency for road opening Sharing of Manholes, Ducts et to avoid duplication of infrastructure Use geo-referenced digital maps Review existing legislations such as Scrap Metal Act-strict licensing conditions of metal dealers Electricity Act-strict penalties on theft of copper cables KICA 1998-stiffer penalties for cable theft/damage AFRALTI
