SCOUT OATH On my honor I will do my best to do my duty To God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight. SCOUT LAW A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent. Since 1910, the Boy Scouts of America has helped build the future leaders of this country, from astronauts to schoolteachers. Today, with over 2.4 million youth members and 1 million adult volunteers, Scouting is one of the most influential youth organizations in the country. 2.4 million young men and women currently enrolled in Scouting 51,820 Scouts earned Scouting s highest rank (Eagle) in 2014 Boy Scouts earned 2.1 million merit badges in 2014 Scouts performed 14 million hours of community service in 2014 Scouts camped a total of 6,027,435 nights in 2014 ABOUT THE BSA

WHY SCOUTING Scouts do stuff. They build things. Play with purpose. Make friends and work together. Set goals and achieve them. They go places. Physically. Mentally. Spiritually. These life- changing experiences and the confidence they provide form a foundation a Scout can stand on to embrace opportunity and overcome obstacles in life. It s not a question of where they will go, but where won t they go.
WHY SCOUTING Scouting provides experiences that help prepare youth for their future. Scouting helps youth develop academic skills, self-confidence, ethics, leadership skills, and citizenship skills that influence their adult lives. Scouting provides the opportunity to: Try new things Provide service to others Build self-confidence Reinforce ethical decision making
CUB SCOUTING Cub Scouting is the foundation of our organization. Cub Scouting is where the adventure begins. Cub Scouting focuses on building character, improving physical fitness, teaching practical skills, and having fun! For boys in first through fifth grades, Cub Scouting involves the whole family as parents pitch in to plan and deliver activities. Cub Scouting emphasizes doing one s best.
BOY SCOUTING Boy Scouting allows young men to go places, test themselves, and have one-of-a-kind adventures that can t be had anywhere else. The life lessons learned transform today s Boy Scouts into tomorrow s leaders. The Boy Scouting experience is for young men in fifth grade through high school. Service, community engagement, and leadership development become increasingly important parts of the program as youth lead their own activities and work their way toward earning Scouting s highest rank, Eagle Scout.
WHILE OUR PROGRAMS ARE FUN AND EXCITING FOR YOUTH, THEY ALSO TEACH LIFE LESSONS CENTERED ON THE FOUR PILLARS OF SCOUTING: WHAT IS AN EAGLE SCOUT? Scouting encourages youth to learn and grow by advancing through ranks in the organization. The highest rank, Eagle Scout, requires an enormous amount of hard work, dedication, and leadership. An Eagle Scout has proven his character and leadership by making a positive impact in his own life, his family, and his community.
VENTURING Venturing s purpose is to provide positive experiences to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults. This coed program for young adults ages 13 (and have completed the eighth grade) through 20 focuses on adventure, leadership, personal growth, and service. Venturing s motto, Lead the Adventure, reminds Venturers to always pursue life in the spirit of adventure.

WHY BECOME A CHARTERED ORGANIZATION? Scouting provides a unique opportunity for chartered organizations to bring stronger service to the community while offering fun and adventure to their own youth and families. By working together, your organization and Scouting can combine time and other resources that result in stronger, more confident children and more productive families and communities. A relationship with Scouting can also help your organization to fulfill its mission and strengthen its outreach efforts.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CHARTERED ORGANIZATION The primary responsibilities of each chartered organization to its Scouting units include: 1. Selecting quality leadership for each unit 2. Providing adequate meeting facilities 3. Appointing a chartered organization representative for Scouting unit operations
