Why We Do Justice
Going Back to God’s Heart

Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of
the fatherless; plead the case of the widow. (Isiah 1:17)

The Lord loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing
love. (Psalm 33:5)

What does the Lord require of you? To act justice and to love mercy, and to
walk humbly with your God. (Micah 6:8)

Engaging in the Work of Justice

To “do justice” means to render to each what each is due.
Justice involves harmony, flourishing, and fairness, and it is
based on the image of God in every person – the
Imago Dei
that grants all people inalienable dignity and infinite
worth.
