WHEN PROFESSIONAL STAFF
MEMBERS FEEL THAT THEY HAVE A
LACK OF CONTROL, INSUFFICIENT
RESOURCES, UNMANAGEABLE
CASELOADS, THREATS TO THEIR
PERSONAL SAFETY, AND LITTLE
AUTHORITY IN DECISION MAKING,
THEY TEND TO BECOME
DISCOURAGED AND
DISEMPOWERED AT WORK (GOLD,
1998).

CHAPLAINS ALSO HAVE
A KEY ROLE IN
INTERDISCIPLINARY
TEAMS TO ENCOURAGE
SELF-COMPASSION
 AND
MINDFUL PRACTICE
SUCH
AS THE LOVING
KINDNESS MEDITATION.

RAYMOND HOLLIWELL WRITES:

LAW OF CIRCULATION
- “YOU
CAN’T GIVE WHAT YOU DON’T
HAVE, YOU CAN’T KEEP WHAT
YOU DON’T GIVE, AND YOU
CAN’T SUSTAIN WHAT YOU DON’T
RECEIVE.”

NEVER FORGET THAT YOU ARE HUMAN.
WHILE IT IS ALWAYS BENEFICIAL TO STRIVE
FOR EXCELLENCE, WADING IN THE RIVER
OF PERFECTIONISM LEADS TO BURNOUT
AND COMPASSION FATIGUE.

GIVE YOURSELF A BREAK!

SEEK BALANCE
- LAUGH AS MUCH AS YOU CRY.
IF YOU'RE NOT CRYING
THEN MAYBE YOU SHOULD.
IF YOU'RE NOT LAUGHING
THEN MAYBE YOU SHOULD
.

GRATITUDE IN DIFFICULT TIMES = GROWTH

BE GRATEFUL ABOUT GROWING.
EMBRACE THE PAIN THAT COMES ALONG
WITH STRETCHING BONES.
WHEN IT'S ALL SAID AND DONE, YOU GET
TO STAND MUCH TALLER.

REMEMBER THAT YOU SHOULD BRING
YOURSELF TO THE WORK.
DON'T LET THE WORK DEFINE YOUR
WORTH.

Amid chaos and uncertainty, it's essential to be the calm amidst the storm. Remember the Law of Circulation - you can't give what you don't have, can't keep what you don't give, and can't sustain what you don't receive. Practice self-compassion, seek balance between laughter and tears, and embrace gratitude for personal growth. Acknowledge your humanity, avoid perfectionism leading to burnout, and encourage mindful practices for sustaining well-being.
