Skilful listening Good listening skills are invaluable when working with others. Demonstrate clearly that you are listening, using appropriate body language and facial expressions. 2. Let people complete the point they are making without interruption. 3. Make some reference, however brief, to what they have been saying before you change the subject. 4. Listen for the underlying message: what does the person really mean? What do they really want you to hear or to know? 5. Check for meaning - ask questions to check you have heard and understood correctly. 6. Clarify details: ask for more details, ask questions to clarify points and to show your interest. 7. Leave silences - this enables other people to enter the dialogue or to work out their own position. Eng101 New Language Leader Level 1 3.4 Study & Writing Skills

Read the review. Is it positive or negative? Would you like to watch this series? 'The Baby-Sitters Club': TV Review Wholesome, breezy and one of Netflix's best to date. The adaptation of Ann M. Martin's mega-popular book series updates '90s nostalgia for modern audiences of all ages. The happy days of The Baby- Sitters Clubexisted in a time before the internet, smartphones or texting. Communication was pure. I'm delighted to find that the10-episode adaptation of the series is not only warm and lively, it's downright among the best shows that has been produced to date. Lacking any cheap kiddie gloss, The Baby-Sitters Club should appeal to elementary school kids and millennials alike, the new series balancing digestible junior high storylines with sophisticated joke- telling. While gritty middle school is all the rage these days, I felt sad when there were no more episodes left to watch, immediately longing for the show's comforting escape. Sophie Grace stars as Kristy Thomas, a forceful young teen with a fondness for problem solving. One evening, her single mother, Elizabeth (Alicia Silverstone), scrambles to find a babysitter for her younger sibling, starting at enormous web-service subscription prices and the cost of adult professionals. Kristy has a simpler solution: What if she and her friends started a local business for busy parents who don't have time to research corporate agencies? The show gets funnier as it goes along, the jokes sharpening to entertain fans of all ages. Eng101 New Language Leader Level 1 3.4 Study & Writing Skills
