  1. COVID 19 Health & Safety Training Campus Safety 2020

  2. Introduction This training provides tips for staying safe while on the U of L campus during the COVID 19 pandemic. In addition to safety information, a hazard assessment template will be presented identifying hazards and associated controls to be use.

  3. Basic health and safety precautions 1. If you are feeling sick, self-isolate for the current prescribed period (see http://www.alberta.ca/self-isolation.aspx ). DO NOT come to Campus Be familiar with symptoms of COVID-19. Common symptoms include: dry cough fever fatigue/extreme tiredness Symptom of serious illness include: difficulty breathing pneumonia Take the COVID-19 self-assessment test. If feeling sick, notify your supervisor and stay home and use Faculty and staff illness/accommodations registry.

  4. Basic health and safety precautions 2. Use the recommended hand hygiene practices. Wash your hands frequently using proper handwashing technique Avoid touching your face. Use hand sanitizer (with >60% ethanol/>70% isopropanol) when handwashing isn t possible Hand sanitizer does not replace handwashing.   5. Basic health and safety precautions 3. Maintain Physical (Social) Distancing Maintain minimum 6 feet or 2 m away from others. Orient desks and workstations to the 2 m standard. Use communication tools such as phone, email, web meetings as much as possible (including within the same building or floor). Group meetings and in-person meetings should be eliminated in favour of remote access meeting via video or phone. Stagger work hours/lunch breaks. Avoid shaking hands.   6. Basic health and safety precautions 4. Practice respiratory etiquette Cough/sneeze into your elbow or . Cover nose/mouth with a tissue. Use disposable tissues and discard after use. Use good hand hygiene after having contact with respiratory secretions or using a tissue. Respiratory Etiquette

  7. Basic health and safety precautions 5. Evaluate workspaces for frequently touched items and clean frequently. Clean work surfaces, laptops, etc. with regular disinfectants or soap and water. Caretaking Services disinfects frequently touched surfaces in common areas, such as door handles, railings and elevator buttons. 6. Minimize sharing of items as much as possible. Clean items/workstations between usages by different staff. E.g. laptops, phones, workstations, pens.

  8. Basic health and safety precautions 7. Safety Equipment (PPE) gloves, respirators and other personal protective equipment will be provided to employees as necessitated by their job role and exposure. 8. Employees should speak directly with their supervisor regarding specific work practices.

  9. Hazard Assessment Template Working during a pandemic presents hazards not necessarily found during normal work conditions. The COVID 19 hazard assessment template is designed to be a supplement to work groups pre-existing formal hazard assessment. The hazard assessment template outlines general hazards and distinguishes controls based on physical distancing (2 m) COVID 19 Hazard Assessment Template

  10. Remember when on campus. Do not come to campus if sick self isolate Do practice physical distancing of 2 m Do practice good hand hygiene Do practice good respiratory etiquette Do review hazard assessments and follow safe work procedures.
