Comparatives Are used to compare the qualities of two people or objects.
How to use them When the adjective ends in 1 syllable you add ER at the end of the word after that you add THAN . ADJECTIVE COMPARATIVE ADJECTIVE COLD COLDER When the adjective has more than 2 syllables you add the word MORE before this adjective. ADJECTIVE COMPARATIVE ADJECTIVE BEAUTIFUL MORE BEAUTIFUL
how to use them If the adjectives end in Y change it for an I besides adding ER ADJECTIVE COMPARATIVE ADJECTIVE EASY EASIER HAPPY HAPPIER
Irregular adjectives ADJECTIVE COMPARATIVE ADJECTIVE GOOD (bueno) BETTER (mejor) BAD (malo) WORSE (peor) WELL (bien) BETTER (mejor) LITTLE (poco) LESS (menos)
EXAMPLES Today is colder than yesterday. (Hoy hace m s fr o que ayer). Gold is more valuable than silver. (El oro es m s valioso que la plata). This chocolate cake is better than the cherry cake. (este pastel de chocolate es mejor que el de cereza).
SUPERLATIVES Are used to contrast qualities of two people or objects.
How to use them You use the article THE before the adjective. If this has 1 or 2 syllables you add EST at the end of it. ADJECTIVE SUPERLATIVE ADJECTIVE COLD THE COLDEST If it has more than 3 syllables you add MOST before the adjective. ADJECTIVE SUPERLATIVE ADJECTIVE BEAUTIFUL THE MOST BEAUTIFUL
