CORRECTIVE DISCIPLE DEFINED: training that MOLDS, CORRECTS MOLDS, CORRECTS or PERFECTS the moral character of AN INDIVIDUAL AN INDIVIDUAL. PERFECTS It is not REVENGE REVENGE. It is not spiritual ABUSE ABUSE. It is not a we are HOLIER HOLIER than them .
No pastor or Christian leader REJOICES the need for the corrective discipline. REJOICES over It is a DUTY when other more positive methods to cause growth and maturity have FAILED DUTY which must be PERFORMED PERFORMED FAILED.
REASONS FOR DISCIPLES Discipline is done when a worker enters into SIN SIN in a way that THREATENS THREATENS his own SPIRITUAL SPIRITUAL life and those around him. He and the church must be protected.
AREAS THAT REQUIRE DISCIPLINE: 1. Unresolved OFFENSES BETWEEN MEMBERS OFFENSES BETWEEN MEMBERS. (e.g. not paying debts) 2. 2. MORAL MORAL impurity. (e.g. adultery, fornication, same sex affair) 3. EXTORTION. EXTORTION. (e.g. asking money for dubious reason) 4. 4. DIVISIVENESS. DIVISIVENESS. (e.g. pagkakampi-kampi, divisive spirit, gossip)
AREAS THAT REQUIRE DISCIPLINE: 1. Fear of the congregation s DISTASTE for the process. 2. Fear of reputation of being HARD and LEGALISTIC. 3. Fear of HURTING tender spirit in the congregation. 4. Ignorance of the NECESSITY and PROCESS of discipline.
BENEFITS OF CHURCH DISCIPLINE 1. It has the potential for bringing about CHANGE and GROWTH GROWTH in the individual s life. 2. It prohibits the LEAVENING LEAVENING influence of SIN from gaining a FOOTHOLD FOOTHOLD in other members of the congregation. 3. It promotes the value of RIGHTEOUSNESS the basis for ALL ALL relationships in the Body of Christ. CHANGE SIN RIGHTEOUSNESS as
PROCESS OF CHURCH DISCIPLINE: 1. 1. CONFRONTATION CONFRONTATION (Matthew 18:15-17)
15If your brother sins against you, go and show him his fault, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over Matthew 18:15 Matthew 18:15- -17 17
16But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.' Matthew 18:15-17
17If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector. Matthew 18:15-17
PROCESS OF CHURCH DISCIPLINE: 1. 1. CONFRONTATION CONFRONTATION (Matthew 18:15-17) 2. 2. EXCLUSION EXCLUSION (1 Corinthians 5:3-5) Discipline involves clear judgment, to pronounce an opinion of right or wrong and to separate the unrepentantly guilty.

GUIDELINES FOR CORRECTIVE DISCIPLINE: 1. 1. CONFESSION & REPENTANCE CONFESSION & REPENTANCE - - It must be based on the extent and effect of the sin. 2. 2. FORGIVENESS FORGIVENESS - - All parties involve should offer forgiveness. 3. PROBATION PROBATION - - Suspension from the ministry to rebuild the wall.
GUIDELINES FOR CORRECTIVE DISCIPLINE: 4. COUNSELING COUNSELING - Support, comfort but not to the point of siding to the one placed under disciplinary action. 5. RESTORATION RESTORATION - - Going back to his previous ministry or maybe not, case to case basis.
