Academic Options Academic sites and databases are available for free on Utah s Online Library: http://onlinelibrary.uen.org. Make sure you write down the username and password if you need to search at home. I can t post it online. The information is credible but can sometimes be difficult to understand. World Book Encyclopedia is an excellent resource you can use to find general information about a topic. http://onlinelibrary.uen.org Select the Student product and type your topic into the search bar to find articles that may be helpful.
World Book You have the option to save articles as pdf files (remember to upload them into Onedrive) and also copy and paste the citation if you click Cite under the settings.
Gale Reference Collection High School Gale has a lot of great resources to help you at different levels of the research process. If you re still looking for a topic, you can use the topic finder feature to narrow down your ideas. Look for it under the PowerSearch feature above the databases. You can keep clicking on tiles until it provides you with the database s ten best articles about a subject.
Gale in Context: Science If you already have a topic, you can find a lot of great resources in the Gale in Context: Science database. You can do a standard search or you can search by topic under the Browse Topics option. If you choose to browse by topic, you can see a lot more options than a standard search. You can narrow by type, such as academic article or reference material.
Browse Topic Search If you browse by topic, you will se a lot more results. Topics are listed alphabetically and you can search within the results of the topic to further narrow down choices.
Gale Options With Gale, you have the ability to highlight and annotate articles as well as save them to your Onedrive. It will create a folder in Onedrive called Science in Context and store it inside the folder.
Sweetsearch.com Instead of using Bing and Google, try using an academic search engine that filters out most non-academic content. Sweetsearch.com is great at providing high school students with reliable academic info. Warning: you have to scroll down past advertisements to get to the good stuff. Google Scholar may not be good for this assignment because it searches for articles, not websites, and Gale already allows for article searches.
Sweetsearch Once you scroll past the advertisements (marked by the word Ads ), you can see a lot of great sites.
