Strategic leadership & accountability Does your main Trust strategy include a commitment to reducing health inequalities? Has your Board received any training or development around health inequalities? Do you have a strategy or plan for addressing health inequalities? Do you have an executive lead identified for health inequalities? Is there a group/committee within the Trust governance structure with oversight for health inequalities work? Do you use a health inequalities impact assessment tool in your business case process? In allocating resources are opportunities identified to invest in services that will prevent and mitigate healthcare inequalities and realise longer term benefits? 3
Where to start? Find the public health allies in your organisation Bring together a coalition of the willing Use the maturity matrix tool to benchmark progress Speak to your regional NHSE/OHID teams and ICBs Include health inequalities training in existing programmes Join the ambulance health inequalities network If you don t know who your executive lead for health inequalities is, keep asking 5
