ADM Papp noted that there are many important
leadership tenets but he focused on three:
Understand that you must complete the mission
Remember that your people are more important than you
Remember to listen
He spoke of his career as a Commanding Officer and the
difficulty in getting junior members to answer questions
until one did and he answered slowly and completely.
That was the beginning of engendering trust and respect
between himself and the crew, which enabled him to
learn more than he ever thought was possible.
