AOMedia Planning AV1 was delivered in June 2018. Focus now is on making AV1 successful: HW & SW Optimization and Ecosystem Growth. But, future success requires long-term planning: Coding gains come with increased generational complexity. Moore s law is not as true as it once was. We need to start working on next generation coding tools now... ...without alarming the hardware manufacturers about AV1! Two phase project: Phase 1 - Research of the basic coding tools. Phase 2 - Development of the specification from those tools.
AOMedia Research We are organizing our research capabilities under the AOMedia Research brand: It is our voice to talk directly to the academic community during Phase 1 (Research). We re investigating whether we can leverage the individual AOMedia member research programs into a single collaborative initiative. Phase 2 (Development) will be announced toward the end of Phase 1. This event is the AOMedia Research Symposium, 2019.
Symposium Annual research event. Goals: To showcase and disseminate research undertaken by AOMedia companies and their research partners. To attract new university partners to work on AOMedia codecs. To matchmake good ideas with funding opportunities. This event was organized at short notice: We ll form a committee to plan future events.
