  1. AZAMT Boot Camp Sheetmetal Project # 1

  2. Purpose: To develop or enhance sheetmetal skills in persons seeking jobs in the aircraft sheetmetal industry. Project # 1

  3. Objective: The applicant will demonstrate: Layout in accordance with directions and drawings Cutting and sizing aircraft sheetmetal Performing bends Riveting to industry and FAA specifications Inspection for defects Determine corrective actions/repairs Project # 1

  4. Given: 1ea 2024 T3 alclad aluminum 13 x13 2ea 2024 T3 bulbed extrusion MS20470AD rivets MS20426AD rivets CR3213-4 CherryMax rivets HighLoc bolts AN 3 bolts MS21042-3 nut 1ea rivet gun kit 1ea micro stop counter sink 36 As required As required As required As required As required As required Project # 1

  5. Procedure: Cut the sheetmetal to 12 x 12 Bend two of the scrap pieces 90deg with per leg Cut from the extrusion two(2) 12 pieces Rivet the bent and the extrusion to the edges of the sheet using recommended edge distance. On one rivet row use the MS20470AD rivets On one rivet row use the MS20426AD rivets From the reaming extrusion cut four 3 pieces Install the four extrusions in the locations identified on the drawing using a combination of rivets, cherryMax rivets, HighLocs and AN bolts Project # 1

  6. Standard: All work must be within the listed tolerances All fasteners must be installed to industry specifications Material must not have any scratches or scribe lines The project will be assessed on the following basis: Correct procedures Use of reference materials Safety Neatness Teamwork Completed in a timely manner Project # 1
