The role of the electricity transmission utility in building an inclusive energy sector for a sustainable future is crucial. Sector reforms have led to the restructuring of the electricity supply industry in Ghana, promoting efficient supply of competitively priced electricity driven by private sector participation. The milestones achieved through operationalization of GRIDCo and establishment of regulatory bodies have paved the way for a well-structured electricity market framework. Emphasis is placed on achieving and sustaining reliable and fairly priced power through wholesale power sector mechanisms and the right market structure. Further, GWEM participation and the next steps involving market rules approval and stakeholder engagement are integral for the progression of the energy sector.
