  2. Colleges Registrars are representatives of the Academic Registrar. They guide students and staff in particular academic units on academic rules, regulations and policies and also maintain up-dated records on all the academic students registered in the academic unit. Themes to guide the discussion Students Orientation Student liaison Operation of Departments and examination processes Examination Malpractices and Irregularities.

Theme One: Students Orientation First year students (Freshers) are by tradition given an acclimatization period of normally one week which is referred to as the orientation week Theme two: Student Liaison The students interact with the Academic staff through the teaching and learning processes. Student leaders are elected to coordinate and administer the students activities during their stay at the main campus

  4. Theme three: Operation of Departments and examination processes University Examinations There shall be University examinations as a mode of assessment. normally conducted at the end of every semester to contribute a maximum of 70% of the total. Course work Progressive Continuous Assessment to contribute 30% and not more than 40% of the total marks. Shall consist of at least one test (1) and (1) homework/take home assignment or two (2) tests per course. Graduate Programmes Plan A Coursework and Dissertation Plan B Extended coursework and Project Report Plan C - Course and Comprehensive Examination Plan D Thesis only

  5. The role of the Department Each department shall be subject to; Deal with its own academic or administrative matters. Propose study plans and academic decisions to the Dean or Director for approval Assign its members to particular curriculum courses, lecturers, seminars and workshops. Theme 4: Examination malpractices and irregularities Offences Committed by Candidates/Students Malpractices in relation to coursework Fraud in relation to course work Malpractice in the conduct of examination Cheating in an examination Fraud in examination and examination results Offences relating to the conduct of irregularities hearing Procedure for Hearing the Examination Malpractice Cases Pre-Hearing Hearing Post-Hearing Appeal

Challenges Large numbers of students has impacted the marking within the set deadlines Posting of results online as well as displaying on the notice-boards has slowed the process Low staffing and other resources Teaching space is reducing Break-down of systems opened ground to defaulters Students with disabilities Virtual examinations and meetings Need for more equipment to improve on our service delivery
