Academic Advising Centre OVERVIEW OF THE ACADEMIC ADVISING CENTRE Monday to Friday 8am to 430pm 10 Advisors (4 Senior Advisors and 6 Student Support Advisors) Student Support Academic Planning and Strategies APE, The Academic Audit, Grade Calculations, University Rules and Regulations General Advising on Program Requirements and Program Changes Resources and Referrals
Academic Advising Centre OUR TRANSITION FROM DROP-IN TO VIRTUAL AND ONLINE SERVICES Academic Advising Request Form Email, Phone and Microsoft Teams Options (no Zoom) Extended Hours Option for International Student (case by case) Indigenous Student Advising IN THE WORKS Piloting a virtual drop-in service for same day advising sessions Live Chat or Open Chat Sessions on Microsoft Teams
Academic Advising Centre ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE EVALUATION AND SAT/UNS - WINTER 2020 TERM Friendly APE (no SU, back-to-back AW, ND for first years) All F grades automatically converted to UNS Option to convert passing letter grade to SAT Deadline extended to APRIL 2021 for SAT conversion (direct all requests to AAC) No further use of SAT/UNS approved at this time SAT/UNS not used in CGPA calculations
Academic Advising Centre STUDENT SUPPORT OUTREACH New Incoming First Year Students Who Received ND (No Decision) at APE but would have been on AW Mandatory Advising for First Year Students Transfer Student Advising Under 75 Mentoring and Advising Varsity Athletes Graduation Project APE Outreach (on pause this year) Admitted on Warning Outreach (paused this year)
Academic Advising Centre BACHELOR OF ARTS OPEN STUDIES DEGREE OPTIONS AAC and the Registrar s Office BA General Open Studies or BA General B.Sc Open Studies Solely for the purpose of graduation Degree requirements must be complete 6.0 credits from disciplines in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences or the Faculty of Public Affairs 9.0 credits in free electives Students must complete at least 2.0 credits at the 3000 level or above Students must satisfy BREADTH requirement Subject to individual program restrictions, students may be eligible to declare a Minor B.Sc = 6.0 credits from disciplines in the Faculty of Science or the Faculty of Engineering and Design & 9.0 credits in free electives
