Introduction The intention of this guide is to assist new students to easily understand and access the library services and resources at the University .The library plays a very critical role in supporting students learning, teaching and research. In distance learning the library is even more important if its services can reach the students where they are.

  3. BOU Libraries The University library services are provided at four library centres: BOU Francistown Campus BOU Gaborone Campus BOU Headquarters BOU Maun Campus The University has arrangements to provide library services where it does not have a physical library. Palapye Campus Office has a small collection while Kang Campus accesses library services at Botswana National Library Services Community Library as well as in several of their community libraries across the country.

  4. Library Collections, Resources & facilities BOU libraries have both print and non-print collection. q The print collection are: Books Newspapers and magazines Reference Collection q The non-print collection(electronic resources) are: E-books E-journals Audio tapes

Library Collections, Resources & facilities q Circulation desk Circulation desk As you enter the library you will proceed to the circulation desk where you can do the following: Register as a new member Check out and return library materials Request for assistance and guidance to other resources Pay for your library fines Reserve library materials

  6. Library Collections, Resources & facilities q Circulation desk Circulation desk You can check out library books at the circulation desk. Graduate students, Post graduate students and tutors can check out 6 books at a time. Other students can check out 4 books at a time. The loan period is 4 weeks for all . A charge of P1.00 per day per book is charged for overdue books. Lost books are paid for (cost price+25%).

  15. Opening Hours The Libraries open during the following times Monday to Friday @ 0800hrs-1630hrs. Extension hours are available during exam period as follows: Monday to Friday @0800hrs-1900hrs or according to the specific library. Saturday & Sunday (opened according to demand)
