RULE 9.2 Harassment Of Officials, Unsportsmanlike Conduct/Misconduct
RULE 9.2 Harassment of Officials, Unsportsmanlike Conduct/Misconduct Team officials shall be responsible for their conduct and that of their players at all times. They must endeavor to prevent disorderly conduct before, during or after the game, on or off the ice and any place in the rink. The Referee may assess penalties to any of the above team officials for failure to do so and shall report full details of the incident to the President.
RULE 9.2 (A) Harassment of Officials, Unsportsmanlike Conduct/Misconduct A Minor penalty shall be assessed to any player or team official who challenges or disputes the rulings of any official during the game or who displays unsportsmanlike conduct. If a player or goaltender persists, she shall be assessed a Misconduct penalty and any further disputes will result in a Game Misconduct penalty being assessed to the offending player or goaltender. If a team official persists, she shall immediately be assessed a Game Misconduct penalty.
RULE 9.2 (B B) Harassment of Officials, Unsportsmanlike Conduct/Misconduct A Misconduct penalty shall be assessed on any player who: (1) uses obscene, profane or abusive language or gestures to any person. (2) persists in disputing or shows disrespect for the ruling of any official. (3) intentionally knocks or shoots the puck out of reach of an official who is retrieving it. A player who, after receiving a Misconduct penalty, persists in any of the actions of (b) above, shall be assessed a Game Misconduct penalty. (9.2b) Note: In the case of a team official, a Bench Minor penalty shall be assessed instead of a Misconduct penalty. A team official after receiving a Bench Minor penalty would receive a Game Misconduct penalty if the actions continue.
RULE 9.2 (A)(B B) - EXAMPLES A-10 receives a minor penalty for slashing and disputes the officials call. 2 (Slash) + 2 (Unsportsmanlike Conduct) A-10 receives a minor penalty for slashing and A5 disputes the officials call. A10 Slashing A5 - Misconduct A-10 disputes a disallowed goal and persists with his dispute. 2 (Unsportsmanlike Conduct) + Misconduct A-10 disputes a disallowed goal, persists with his dispute and further persists with his dispute. 2 (Unsportsmanlike Conduct) + Misconduct + Game Misconduct Team A Coach disputes a disallowed goal and persists with his dispute. 2 (Bench Minor) + Game Misconduct

RULE 9.2 (E) Harassment of Officials, Unsportsmanlike Conduct/Misconduct A Misconduct penalty shall be assessed to any player who shows any course of conduct (including threatening and abusive language or gestures or similar actions) designed to incite an opponent into incurring a penalty.
RULE 9.2 (F) Harassment of Officials, Unsportsmanlike Conduct/Misconduct Any player or team official who engages in verbal taunts, insults or intimidation based on discriminatory grounds (race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, language) shall be assessed a Gross Misconduct penalty and the Referee shall report full details of the incident to the President. Note: Officials must complete a game report and report to the President any penalty incurred under Rule 9.2 (f).
RULE 9.2 (F) Harassment of Officials, Unsportsmanlike Conduct/Misconduct Verbal taunts, Insults or Intimidation based on Discriminatory Grounds Race: people that have distinct physical characteristics, culture or language Ethnicity: those belonging to a social group that have a common national or cultural tradition Gender: male or female Sexual Orientation: the pattern of a person s sexual attractions based on gender Language: the system of communication by a particular community or country
RULE 9.2 (F) Harassment of Officials, Unsportsmanlike Conduct/Misconduct SEE the player SAY it! When assessing penalties under 9.2 (f) it is extremely important that the official can identify the player guilty of the infraction and see what it is that the player said. If unable to identify the player guilty, the official is encouraged to go to the offending teams bench and discuss the situation with the Coach.
RULE 9.2 Harassment of Officials, Unsportsmanlike Conduct/Misconduct Key Points Think of a ladder when applying rule 9.2 in your game. Not every situation calls for the most severe penalty, so apply the most appropriate part of this rule to the situation presented to you on the ice. With the exception of the minor penalty, a written game report will have to filled out by the official for penalties incurred under Rule 9.2. Officials are directed to be explicit in their report as to what was said by the player, using the same verbiage as used by the player. This will seem uncomfortable for most but is necessary, so that the appropriate discipline can be assessed.
RULE 9.2 Harassment of Officials, Unsportsmanlike Conduct/Misconduct DO NOT STACK THESE PENALTIES Once a player has received a GM for disputing and/or using profanity while disputing, that player receives one GM and not multiple GM s for each obscenity shouted. Likewise with the Gross Misconduct. An example of this would be a player being penalized under 9.2 (f) for using any type of slur at an opponent. We are NOT to add any additional GRM s to the player guilty of the slur, should they utter that slur more than once. Indicate in your report that the player used the slur a number of times prior to leaving the game, or that it was directed at more than one player or bench personnel.
