TBSC THEATRE ON ICE US FIGURE SKATING
Theatre On Ice (TOI) is a form of competitive figure skating that is popular in Europe, where it is known as Ballet on Ice. It combines the grace of figure skating with the excitement of theater and dance. WHAT IS THEATRE Teams consist of 8 to 30 skaters. ON ICE? The programs are judged by US Figure Skating judges and are evaluated using a Component Judging System (CJS) that rewards originality, costuming, artistry and musicality. Theatre On Ice consists of two programs: The Free Skate and the Choreographic Exercise (CE).
Theatre On Ice is one of the fastest growing disciplines of skating, increasing 35% in the past three years! WHY THEATRE ON Nearly 100 TOI teams were registered for the 2019-2020 season, and over 1300 skaters competed at the 2019 National Theatre On Ice competition. With competition across 8 levels, including Adult, Open, and Special Olympics, there s a level for your skaters, regardless of their test or skill level. ICE?
National Theatre On Ice is a competition experience unlike anything in figure skating! The team camaraderie, creative spirit, and warm environment offers skaters the opportunity to experience success at a national level. NATIONAL COMPETITION All levels of Theatre On Ice are eligible to compete in the National Theatre On Ice Competition hosted annually, and no qualification is necessary; Adult, Novice, Junior and Senior level teams also have the opportunity to compete internationally at the biannual Nations Cup Competition.
Many competitive singles skaters leave the sport around the time they enter high school. This is evidenced by the disproportionate number of skaters competing in the juvenile and intermediate levels compared with junior and senior levels. ATHLETE RETENTION Theatre On Ice provides a competitive outlet for skaters that might otherwise give up on the sport. Especially as skaters enter high school, TOI provides a creative outlet and team environment that can keep skaters involved in the sport. Of the skaters competing at the 2019 National Theatre On Ice Competition, more than half of them were high school aged skaters
Consists of three required axes which must be included in the program. All three axes must be presented throughout the program. 1. Theme-The theme is the purpose of the program. It is the unifying concept and can tell a story or be abstract. It should have the meaning and support of the Choreographic Process and Gesture. CHOREOGRAPHIC EXERCISE 2. Choreographic Process-A set of movements which are performed by individuals, small groups and the whole team. 3. Gesture/Body Movement-The gesture is the type of body movements the skaters are to perform individual and in groups. Team members are required to wear plain black only. No sets or props are allowed.

The free skate performance should express a theme, emotion or story. It may be linear storytelling or abstract. Neither form has a greater value than the other. It may be an original work or reinterpretation of existing work. FREE SKATE Colorful costumes, sets and props are not required but they are allowed.

TBSC TOI TEAM We are looking to create an Intermediate level team. 8 24 skaters Required to have a minimum test level of pre-preliminary MITF 18 years old and younger The season starts in August 2021 and will run through June 2022 There will be an hour on ice practice followed by an hour off ice practice Sundays starting at 8am
COACH PAULINE GASPARINI Coached for over 35 years at all levels of ISI and USFS. Coached a Theatre On Ice Senior level team for 2 years. Attended the National Championships both years. Trained skaters to top 4 places in 3 Olympic Games and 8 World Championships. Developed multiple International Champions, including 8 National Champions and several National Medal winners.
COACH LAIA BOVE IMHOFF Competed nationally and internationally at the Junior and Senior level in Spain. Competed with Barcelona Artistic Team Senior TOI for 5 seasons earning National and International titles. Skated professionally with Holiday on Ice and Disney on Ice all around the world for 5 years. Coaching from beginner to Senior level skaters for over 12 years both in Spain and USA. Co-Founding coach of River City Ice Theatre in Evansville, IN. International yoga teacher specializing in world and Olympic athletes a well as specialized populations.

TBSC TOI COST Included Not Included All team ice time All off-ice time All coaching fees All competition fees, including practice ice, entry fees, coaches travel, etc. Music editing Props Athlete travel expenses. This team will be traveling to Nationals this season. We expect to spend three nights in a hotel. Parent travel expenses. Parents traveling with the team are responsible for all their costs. Extras ordered by each skater at competitions- souvenir pins, DVDs, programs, t-shirts, etc. Event tickets for family members. The National Theatre On Ice competition charges admission. Costumes: one for the Choreographic Exercise, one for the Free Performance Warm Up suit Extra tights, t-shirts, make-up, etc. If a skater loses or damages any of their team items, they must replace them at their own cost.
TBSC TOI COST The cost per athlete for the 2021-2022 competitive season is $2,318 per skater. The official season runs from August 15, 2021- June 12, 2022. A deposit of $398, must be paid at the time the athlete commits to join the team, and no later than August 22, 2021. The remainder of the fee will be due in two installments. The first payment of $960, will be due September 26, 2021. The final payment of $960, will be due January 30, 2022. Families may choose to pay the entire year s fee at once, any athlete choosing to do so will receive a 5% discount, for a total of $2,202.
