Title 1: How climate smart is conservation agriculture in sub-Saharan Africa? Prof. Vegard Martinsen is a researcher at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences. He is the PI of two projects funded by NRC and NORAD focusing on research and education in agriculture with scientists from Makerere University and Gulu University in Uganda. Prof. Vegard Martinsen
Title 2: The potential of biochar as a soil enhancer in crop production Dr Alfred Obia is a lecturer at the Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture and Environment, Gulu University. He holds a PhD and PostDoctoral training from Norwegian University University of Life Sciences and Norwegian Geotechnical Institute, respectively. For over 10 years, he has been conducting research on how soil management practices, in particular, biochar application to agricultural soils contribute to increased soil productivity, climate change mitigation and adaptation amongst others. Title 3: Testing the pigeon pea biochar maize value chain Prof. Jan Mulder is Professor of Soil Science at the Norwegian University Distinguished Visiting University, Beijing. of Professor Life Sciences at and Tsinghua Apart from research in conservation agricultural and biochar, he has extensive experience in the biogeochemistry of soil carbon and nitrogen and in greenhouse gas emissions. He is associate editor of the European Journal of Soil Science and Biogeochemistry Prof. Jan Mulder
Title 4: Biochar: From waste to pollution sorbent Prof. Gerard Cornelissen is a technical expert at the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute and a professor at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences. He has been involved in biochar projects in Africa, Asia and Norway Prof. Gerard Cornelissen
