  1. Recapping James 1/ The purpose of trials James 1:2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

  2. Recapping James 2/ Faith AND works James 2:18But someone will say, You have faith; I have deeds. Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.

  4. Recapping James 4/ The power of words James 3:5 Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.

See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains. 8You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord s coming is near. 9Don t grumble against one another, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door!

You have heard of Job s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.

  8. James Oaths 12Above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. All you need to say is a simple Yes or No. Otherwise you will be condemned.
