Welcome from Mark Fisher, Chief Executive Dear colleagues, It s only a few weeks now until we all come together as NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care and I m excited about the opportunity it gives us. Not only will it allow us to build on the great work taking place already, but it will help us come together even more closely with colleagues across neighbourhoods, localities and the city region to benefit the people of this fantastic place. However, I also know there s still lots to do and many questions to answer as we move towards 1 July. This is why it s really important to me, as your future Chief Executive, to start as we mean to go on, building an organisation where we all engage openly and regularly together. This is why, in addition to these written briefings, our wellbeing sessions and our TUPE engagement sessions, you ll start to hear more from me and my senior team in the coming weeks.

Welcome (continued) from Mark Fisher, Chief Executive I m particularly pleased to announce we ll be running our first live leadership briefing on 10 May, when I hope to hear, and see, more from all of you as well. There s information later in the briefing about how you can get in touch with your questions ahead of the Teams event, though you ll be able to ask them during the session too. We ll also soon start to introduce regular brief videos from our executive team and our place based leads as they re appointed, so you can hear their thoughts and plans for their teams and areas. And finally, diaries allowing, I look forward to trying to meet you all, either in person or virtually, at at least one of your local or organisational meetings ahead of July. In the meantime a huge thanks for your efforts to keep the show on the road while also setting up the new arrangements.   5. 2.Keep connected latest updates from the GM ICS Transition Programme Board

Transition update Cultural audit We shared an update in the 22 March edition of Keep Connected about the results and recommendations emerging from the cultural audit held in late 2021/early 2022. A total of 17 engagement sessions will now be held to explore the key themes with colleagues between 27 April and 15 June (details to follow soon). Staff benefits Further updates included assurances of an Occupational Health and Employee Assistance Programme to be available for all colleagues transferring in and to ensure a suite of staff benefits are in place from 1 July. Further updates on this will be made available as soon as possible. IT equipment Assurances were given to the transition board about IT equipment and that lots of work is taking place behind the scenes to ensure all colleagues transferring in have the ability to operate effectively on day one. This touched upon a staff intranet (which is being developed alongside communications colleagues), a set of IT policies and continued use of Microsoft Teams.

Communications update Our communications colleagues from across all 12 sender organisations are continuing to work closely together to ensure our staff and key stakeholders inside and outside the integrated care system remain fully informed. This involves working on branding, our website, intranet, social media channels and how we continue to liaise with the media in Greater Manchester and beyond. As part of this, we have developed a narrative which describes the integrated care system and its component parts; Greater Manchester Integrated Care Partnership, NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care, etc. This was used in the TUPE consultation sessions that have been taking place across all 12 organisations and you can read this in the background and core narrative section of this briefing. As we move forward, this narrative will play a part in how we shape our communications channels.

  9. Communications update NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care Leadership Team Staff Briefing Save the Date! We re pleased to confirm that our first NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care staff briefing will take place on Tuesday 10 May from 9 10am. Join Chief Executive, Mark Fisher and members of the wider leadership team who will introduce themselves and welcome you to our new organisation. The briefing will be a MS Teams live event and there will be opportunities to ask questions ahead of, or during, the session. More information on how to contribute will be shared soon and a link to the event will be shared closer to the time. Please save the date in your diary.

Engagement update Still time to take part in The Big Conversation All health and care colleagues are encouraged to take part in a conversation about the future of health and care for themselves and their families. The Big Conversation survey runs until Sunday 8 May and anyone who registers their views will be entered into a free prize draw with a chance to win one of four 250 Love to Shop vouchers. More importantly, feedback collated from the survey will help to shape the future vision of how we will work together in partnership in order to improve everyone s health and wellbeing. Consultation update Consultation staff briefings The consultation for the transfer of employees to NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care launched on 1 April and consultation staff briefings have now taken place with staff across all 12 organisations. Consultation letters Employees should have now received a consultation letter and are reminded that you have the opportunity to have a 121 with an appropriate manager, either informally or formally, should you wish to. To organise 121s, please follow the local arrangements outlined in your consultation letter. Consultation FAQs Thank you everyone who has asked a question or fed back about the consultation. The consultation FAQs have been shared with this briefing and we re in the process of updating them to include Q&As from the staff briefings across the 12 organisations. Consultation feedback, questions and queries Please share any consultation feedback and raise any questions or queries with your line manager, organisational HR Lead or your trade union representative. Additionally, you can send any queries you may have about the consultation to gm.integratedcareconsultation@nhs.net.

  13. Keep connected HR and OD update 4b. Appraisals As we transition into NHS GM Integrated Care it is important that everyone continues to be supported through regular one to ones and appraisals. Any transition period can result in uncertainty and we want to do all we can to regularly reassure staff about fairness and the opportunity to discuss their place in the new systems. Once established, the new organisation will look to develop its own systems and processes which will include appraisals/performance development reviews. Until a new process can be developed, it is important that everyone continues with their existing local arrangements. Ideally, line managers will undertake a final appraisal session with all their staff before July to help support colleagues as they transition. Given the current context this may require a more pragmatic approach to any future planning as part of the appraisal conversation. Keep Connected Engagement Calendar new sessions added The latest version of the Keep Connected Engagement Calendar has been shared with this briefing and provides you with information and links to book on the NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care engagement and wellbeing sessions. There s still time to book on the Looking After Your Wellbeing session on Monday 25 April, 9.30 11am. The session will focus on supporting the individual, as well as teams and line managers and is your opportunity to inform future health and wellbeing activities as we transition to NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care. Please note: The Hybrid Working session which was scheduled for Tuesday 26 April has been rescheduled to Wednesday 4 May. All colleagues who were booked on the session have been contacted. If you book a session and then find you can t make it, please cancel your booking so the place can be given to someone else. Thank you for your cooperation and we hope you find these sessions useful.

Appointments Place-based leads for Health and Care Integration Each locality in Greater Manchester has proposed one of the following options for the structure of its place-based integrated care model: Local authority Chief Executive A person employed by NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care Alternative arrangements Once these are confirmed we will share the names in a future edition of Keep Connected. In the meantime, some localities have chosen to share their individual plans with their teams. For more information on the process for selecting a place-based lead, please see the 23 March edition of Keep Connected.

  20. About Greater Manchesters integrated care system Why are things changing? Across the country, integrated care partnerships (ICP) are being set up to help organisations work better with the public to keep everyone healthier; plan and deliver health services more effectively; make sure everyone is treated equally and fairly; help the NHS become as efficient as possible, and also help it contribute to the wider economy. The intention is that this will: improve the health of children and young people support people to stay well and independent help health and care services act sooner to help those with preventable conditions support those with long-term conditions or mental health issues care for those with multiple conditions, particularly as people get older get the best from collective resources so people get care as quickly as possible. Here in Greater Manchester the new arrangements mark the latest stage in the city region s journey to more joined up working, which has developed since our health and social care devolution deal in February 2015.

  21. About Greater Manchesters integrated care system How does our Greater Manchester system fit together? Our system will be called GM Integrated Care Partnership and will be made up of two statutory elements: Greater Manchester Integrated Care Partnership Board, involving all the different organisations which support people s health and care NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care, a new organisation, overseen by a Board, to support integration within the NHS to take a joint approach to agreeing and delivering ambitions for the health of the population In addition there will be similar partnerships in each of GM s ten districts or localities. Our system partnership will operate at three levels: neighbourhood, locality and Greater Manchester and will have a single vision and strategy. Hospitals, GPs, community services and other providers will come together to form collaboratives within all three levels.

About Greater Manchesters integrated care system Greater Manchester Integrated Care Partnership Greater Manchester Integrated Care Partnership will bring together all the different organisations which support people s health and care and, working with our people and communities, will create and oversee our region s overall integrated care strategy which the wider system will work to deliver. Members of the Partnership (which is an evolution of the longstanding Health and Social Care Partnership) come from all ten parts of GM, including all NHS organisations, councils, GM Combined Authority, organisations from across the voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise sectors and others all working together to help achieve our common vision. The Board steering the work will be chaired by GM political lead for health and care, and Tameside Council leader Councillor Brenda Warrington.

About Greater Manchesters integrated care system 10 Local Integrated Care Partnerships, 66 Neighbourhoods Much of someone s life will be spent within a few miles of where they live, shopping, working, going to school, visiting friends and family, and socialising. Likewise, if people do need support around their health and care, friends and family are often very involved, and people may also use their local pharmacy, GP, voluntary groups, district nurses, community mental health services or home care staff. And sometimes they may need a hospital visit or a care home. Some people may also link in with education, probation, employment or social services. Virtually all of this will happen relatively locally. This is why our ten places and 66 neighbourhoods are at the heart of our integration work. We ll have local integrated care partnerships, overseen by a Board with people from the council, NHS, voluntary sector and wider partners reflective of each place. One person a place based lead will coordinate all of this.

About Greater Manchesters integrated care system NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care The NHS sees and treats thousands of people every day in Greater Manchester at its many different services; most are in the local community, including GPs, dentists, pharmacist, optometrists, district nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, diagnostics and many more. Some more specialised services are based in hospitals. From July 1 a new organisation, called NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care will take over from our 10 Clinical Commissioning Groups (which will close down their work) to become responsible for the allocation of, and accounting for, NHS resources. It will create and oversee a plan for all NHS services in our city region. Sir Richard Leese has been confirmed as Chair designate and Mark Fisher as Chief Executive designate. Staff from the new organisation will work across Greater Manchester; some within the local partnerships and some more centrally.
