Erasmus Student ID Card in Greece Background Students from all around Europe apply and come as Erasmus exchange students in Greece Incoming Erasmus students need and get a Greek student identity card Existing GRNET software for Greek students to get their student identity card automates the process, checks, decreases workload Erasmus students are asked to use it Improve the process for Erasmus students in Greece Extension/specialization of the software in English exploiting their existing foreign credentials through eIDAS respecting rules, privacy, GDPR polyzos@aueb.gr 2

Erasmus Student eCard in Greece Part of larger project: e-signature and Erasmus Student eCard in Greece Ms. Sophia Haramousou will present it briefly next 1st part focuses on secure, reliable, convenient electronic signatures for the public sector in Greece Goals and results of the eCard sub-project extension of the software that allows application for an Erasmus student identity card in Greece by foreign students in English remotely (before arriving at the visited Erasmus institution, even from their country) using their national electronic identity, eID, and the eIDAS regulation (& technologies) additional information is available at the website: https://ecard.aueb.gr Consider the bigger picture and the future electronic version of the student card, no card but electronic identification and authorization, etc. other projects -- previous CEF project: ESMO (presentation by Prof. Petros Kavassalis) We will briefly cover related technologies and developments polyzos@aueb.gr 3

  4. eIDAS: Electronic Identification, Authentication and Trust Services https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EIDAS EU regulation on electronic identification and trust services for electronic transactions in the European Single Market established July 2014; entered into force in September 2014 and applies from 1 July 2016 eIDAS: defines standards for electronic signatures and other proofs for authentication with the same legal standing as transactions that are performed on paper Member States are required to recognise electronic signatures that meet the standards of eIDAS Europe's Digital Agenda eIDAS to drive innovation (e.g. through better information security) eIDAS focuses on electronic transactions Interoperability Transparency Advanced electronic signature provides unique identifying information that links it to its signatory the signatory has sole control of the data used to create the electronic signature must be capable of identifying if the data accompanying the message has been tampered with after being signed certificate for electronic signature = electronic proof that confirms the identity of the signatory and links the electronic signature data to that person Qualified electronic signature Qualified digital certificate Qualified website authentication certificate Trust service eIDAS minimum identity concept: name & birth date polyzos@aueb.gr 4
