S. A. 1.1: Call of Cthulhu (Outcome One) This assignment encourages you to think about Gothic Literature and how Gothic elements are used to create stories that continue to impact readers even today. In a two-page paper, analyze the rhetorical strategies that H. P. Lovecraft uses throughout his short story.
S. A. 1.2: Vampire Literature (Outcome Two) Using the collection Vampire Literature that we have read as a class, develop a comparative analysis that focuses on the differences in rhetorical strategies. In a two to three page paper, analyze and compare the use of rhetorical strategies throughout the collection of short stories and how they change.
M. P. 1: Dracula/Frankenstein After reading the chosen novel for our Gothic Literature sequence, you will need to revisit the notes and conversations to do a deep literary analysis of the novel. In a five to seven page paper, analyze the novel both for thematic and rhetorical elements that have helped to maintain the novels popularity.
