The Race Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. - Hebrews 12:1-2

  3. The Cross As a Goal The Cross was Jesus life goal! He set His face like flint to go to Jerusalem He thought the benefits (joy from God) outweighed the pain He endured and was rewarded with the Name above every Name

  4. The Start! The destination determines the journey Having a clear goal builds determination The goal must be worthy of the effort The goal must be something we actually want! The goal must contain the reward The reward makes the routine worthwhile

  5. Replace Guilt With Inspiration! Guilt is the worst and weakest motivation Guilt is not a Christian biblical motivation Love and inspiration and creativity set the best goals Spiritual imagination: faith, hope, vision, joy, purpose Focus on the solution and on the benefit not on the problem

  6. Some Christian Goals Presenting every man perfect in Christ Preaching the gospel in "regions beyond" That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings To seek and save the lost Walking in the Truth

  7. Goals That: 1. Cause your mind to be set on things above, and on the Spirit 2. Will bring glory to God and to Christ 3. Are in tune with Heaven and with the Holy Spirit 4. Edify yourself, others, the Church and the world 5. Advance the gospel in ways that are both godly and compassionate

  8. Pastor Johns Crazy Goal Goals should be B.H.A.G Big, Hairy, Audacious Goals . To explore and discover authoritative life-changing truth for the body of Christ, as a missionary bible teacher, in cyberspace, so that every person on this planet is perfected and completed in Christ and God s Church is built up.

  9. Selecting Your Spiritual Goal/s Spiritual goals will differ according to factors such as your age, calling, character, gifts and abilities that God has given you. An evangelist will have different goals to an administrator and a teacher will have different goals that those of a healer. Do not feel guilty because you cannot do everything Find the something that you can do, and do that thing well

  10. Who Do You WANT To Be? It is the QUALITY of your character that counts God calls you to be YOU! What will Christ in you look like? Does a particular bible character inspire you? What positive character qualities do you most admire?

  11. What Do You Want To Stand For? What core values motivate you? What energizes you to action? What makes your blood really boil? Where will you plant your flag? What will stop you from just drifting along?

  12. Come Alive! Things that energize you in a good and godly way Things that bring you closer to God Things that make you feel totally alive Things that focus you so much that you sometimes lose track of time

  13. The Eternal City Hebrews 11 & 12: The city sought by those of old who had the faith that pleased God The higher calling, deep calls out to deep Developing the glorious, perfect, peaceful eternal you Letting go / putting off the junk.... Focussing your eyes on Jesus the author and perfecter of your faith

  14. How To Set Spiritual Goals 1. Pray for wisdom (James 1:5-8) 2. Get pen and paper and just start writing whatever comes to mind as an expression of Christ in you. 3. Make the goal big, compelling, joyful and energizing 4. Check that it fits with your gifts and calling and that you want to do it and can honestly commit to it. 5. Then write it out clearly before God, pray over it, put in your Bible, revisit it and start living toward it.
