General School Information School Hours are 8:15-3:25 Students not arriving by school transportation can be dropped off starting at 7:45AM. Students are tardy if not in HR by 8:15 Must be picked up by 3:45PM. Early Dismissals count as tardies. Primetime Before School Care at 6:30AM and After School Care Until 6:00PM (run by the Family Y for a cost). Homework is Monday-Thursday and occasionally on weekends Community Service is part of a student s academic experience Expectations for all students Attendance Dress Behavior
Attendance Regular attendance is the expectation. Studies show a direct correlation between attendance and better academic achievement. Excused absences are: Personal illness Family death and funeral Medical or dental appointments Non-school activities authorized by superintendent or designee Special and recognized religious holidays observed by the student s faith. Mandate or order of government agency Extreme circumstances that cannot be resolved outside school hours; parent or guardian must request and receive approval from the principal or designated representative.

Bus Transportation AM: To Zoned HS and then to Walker PM: To Zoned MS and then Home A student is never tardy when they ride the bus. Bus Buddies Seating on buses Infofinder for Bus stops and times
Transportation by car or Transportation by car or daycare van daycare van Early Morning Arrival/ Late afternoon pick up Car Line AM: One Line Begins at 7:45AM Car line PM: Two Lines Daycare Vans Drop off/pick up with buses Boys and Girls Club students ride bus to Division St. (other locations may offer van service) Primetime here at school
Presentations and Class Assignments At Walker we have a Communications Component that adds to our magnet focus Students are required to dress for success and present projects. Students in Grades K-3 have a standards-based grading system. Students in Grades 4-8 have a more traditional grading scale. Students will have access to Canvas Learning Management System. Infinite Campus is where grades are housed. Parents can become an observer on their child s Canvas Account and have access to Parent Portal in Infinite Campus.
Immunizations Due by the first day of school for all new students TWO FORMS: Immunization and EED (Eye, ear, dental) Completed by physician Kindergarten, rising 7th graders, and rising 11th graders all need shots Form must be marked complete for school attendance or have an expiration date Forms can be obtained from doctor or downloaded from our website Eye, Ear, and Dental form can also be completed by Pediatrician
Typical School Day (Kindergarten) 8:15= HR announcements, morning show 8:20= Early Morning Recess 8:40= Academic Content 10:20= Lunch 11:00= Afternoon Recess 11:20= Academic Content 12:30= Enrichment (PE, STEM, Art, Music, Drama) 1:30= Snack 1:50= Rest 2:15= Afternoon work/Story Time
Typical School Day Upper Grades 8:15= HR, Morning Announcements Enrichment Times vary depending on grade level. Students rotate to: PE, Art, Music, Drama, STEM, and Spanish Orchestra begins in 4th grade Recess (1 required, 1 optional) Class times for ELA and Math are approximately 90 Minutes each
PTO and School Council PTO = $10 a family Meetings are held monthly and with special events at the school School Council = advisory body to the administration Volunteer Training= good for 2 years, can be done at any RCSS school. Must have a level 3 card to chaperone field trips Volunteers needed for = classrooms, media center, beautification, garden
Summer Assignments Check the C.T. Walker webpage on or after May 17th. All students will have summer work that is due on the first day of school. Supply lists are posted with summer work
