Optometry - Technology Refresh and Connectivity Technology Refresh and Connectivity to NHS Network for Optometrists Citrix Platform Architecture and Infrastructure in place Secure access available to NHS Network via RSA token Platform provides: NHS Email, E-library, HOWIS and WCCG access for a small number of pilot practices Practices can still register to participate by emailing: OptomICT@wales.nhs.uk Plan to connect all sites by 30th September

Optometry Referrals Capability delivered to enable electronic referrals using the Welsh Clinical Communications Gateway [WCCG] 3 condition specific referral templates developed [Cataract, Glaucoma and General Ophthalmology] Instant transfer of referral to chosen hospital with referral status updates available Integration work undertaken with secondary care systems to ensure receipt and management of referrals Pilot underway with 9 sites across Wales 130+ referrals made since pilot commenced in July 15
