The TextPsalm 119:9-11 9 How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word. 10 With my whole heart I have sought You; Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments! 11 Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.
Background of the Text The author is David, a man after God s own heart He was unnoticed by men, even his father and brothers and Samuel However, he was known by God - Even when he was in the womb (Psa. 139:1-4, 13, 15-16) He was being prepared by God, to become a shepherd king He knew God, even from his youth We have seen God when we look at Jesus We know the heart of God when we look at David Thank God for the life changing words in the Psalms David asks the vital question and God gives the answer (Psalm 119)
Davids Question About How to Please God How can a young man cleanse his way? The God of heaven and earth lives How can I live before Him? We have displeased, not just ourselves, but God! If I solved every other relationship, this question remains It is life s greatest question, and we must find God s answer God alone can answer it! He is sovereign and he reveals the answer He has given us the book with ancient words guiding us and providing us with His answer to this question and every vital question in our lives (2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:3)
The Divine Answer to the Question 1. By taking heed soberly realize you will answer to Him 2. according to Your word We must learn His will 3. with my whole heart you will find Him, but His will is not an intellectual knowledge of the Bible 4. I have sought You John 7:17; Jer. 29:13; Matt. 7:7-8 5. Oh, let me not wander the danger of leaving Him and not even realizing it! 6. from Your commandments! If we ignore His words we do NOT love Him--John 14:15 The Simple Answer to Life s Greatest Question: Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.
