PSALM 62
Psalm 62:1-4 AMP [1] For God alone my
soul
waits
in silence; From Him comes my
salvation. [2] He alone is my rock and my salvation,
My defense
and
my strong tower; I will not be
shaken
or
disheartened [3] How long will you
attack a man So that you may murder him, all of
you, Like a leaning wall, like a tottering fence?
[4]They consult only to throw him down from his
high position [to dishonor him]; They delight in lies.
They bless with [the words of] their mouths, But
inwardly they curse.
Selah.
PSALM 62
Psalm 62:5-9 AMP [5] For God alone my soul waits in
silence
and
quietly submits to Him, For my hope is
from Him. [6]

He only is my rock and my salvation; My
fortress
and
my defense, I will not be
shaken
or
 discouraged. [7]

On God my salvation and
my glory rest; He is my rock of [unyielding] strength,
my refuge is in God [8]

Trust [confidently] in Him at all
times, O people; Pour out your heart before Him. God
is a refuge for us. Selah.
PSALM 62
Psalm 62:9-12 AMP [9] Men of low degree are only a
breath (emptiness), and men of [high] rank are a lie
(delusion). In the balances they go up [because they have
no measurable weight or value]; [10] Do not trust in
oppression, And do not vainly hope in robbery;
If riches increase, do not set your heart on them. [11]

God
has spoken once. Twice I have heard this:
That power belongs to God. [12] Also to You, O Lord,
belong lovingkindness
and
 compassion, For You
compensate every man according to [the value of] his
work.

A Levite of the family of Merari and the chief of one of the
3 choirs of the temple whose descendants also formed
one of the perpetual, temple choirs; he is named at the
beginning of 3 Psalms (39, 62, 77) either as the
composer or the recipient of those Psalms but most likely
as the leader of the choir by which those Psalms were to
be sung, of a Levite, set by David as chief over a choir, 1
Chr. 9:16; 16:38,41, 42; 25:1; also of his descendants,
who were themselves musicians,
JEDUTHUN
I Chronicles 25:1 KJV -
Moreover David and the
captains of the host
separated to the service of
the sons of Asaph, and of
Heman, and of Jeduthun,
who should prophesy with
harps, with psalteries, and
with cymbals: and the
number of the workmen
according to their service
was:
JEDUTHUN
I Chronicles 25:3 - Of
Jeduthun: the sons of
Jeduthun; Gedaliah, and
Zeri, and Jeshaiah,
Hashabiah, and Mattithiah,
six, under the hands of their
father Jeduthun, who
prophesied with a harp, to
give thanks and to praise
the Lord.
PRAISE
This Psalm gives worship to
God, it gives thanks to God,
and praises God. Psalm 62
was to be accompanied with
prophesy. This was not only
a Psalm that fed David’s soul
privately, but this was also a
public praising psalm for
Jeduthun and the temple
choir.
PRAISE
This Psalm of praise contains
prayer, encouragement,
prophesy, silence,
declarations, instructions and
more. This is not just a
catchy tune, or a dope beat
with a hook. This is a warfare
Psalm.
Question - What’s in your
Praise?
PSALM 62:1
For God alone my soul
waits
 in
silence; From Him comes my
salvation.
God Alone or Only
SOUL
soul, life, appetite,
mind, desire,
emotion, passion,
seat of emotions
and passions,
activity of mind,
activity of the will,
WAIT
SILENCE
Psalm 65:1 AMP - To thee (belongs) silence.
We owe God our silence - (confident waiting),
Inner peace. The norm and noise (voice) of our
soul can be loud and busy - “one voice after
another” when there should be silence.
Question – How often are you silent before God?
SILENCE
Confident expectation - we are at ease from toil
because the focus is on God and our trust is in
God. Move from anxious to the Peace of God
even when the situation is unchanged. Silence
is more than not speaking.
What does silent confident expectation look like
when you’re under attack?
SALVATIO
N
Deliverance, welfare,
prosperity, deliverance,
salvation (by God), victory,
vindication, justification.
PSALM 62:2
He alone is my rock and my
salvation, My
defense
and
 my strong
tower; I will not be
shaken
or
 disheartened
ROCK
Christ, strength,
firmness, refuge,
foundation, truth.

Built Upon the ROCK
I Corinthians
3:11-14
For no other foundation can
anyone lay than that which
is [already] laid, which is
Jesus Christ (the Messiah,
the Anointed One). But if
anyone builds upon the
Foundation, whether it be
with gold, silver, precious
stones, wood, hay, straw,
The work of each [one] will
become [plainly, openly]
known (shown for what it
is); for the day [of Christ]
will disclose
and
declare it,
I Corinthians 3:11-14
because it will be revealed with fire, and the fire
will test
and
 critically appraise the
character
and
worth of the work each person has
done. If the work which any person has built on
this Foundation [any product of his efforts
whatever] survives [this test], he will get his
reward.
What are you building upon? Is the foundation
storm, fire and flood proof?
DEFENSE
High place, refuge, retreat, stronghold, refuge (of
God), a cliff (or other lofty or inaccessible place

Do you see God as your defense or are you your
best defense?
