  1. The Swinging Sixties

  2. The Swinging Sixties was the decade of time between 1960-1969. It is remembered for many reasons. Here are some clues

  3. Learning Intention: I am learning about important events and people of the past in Great Britain. I can use the internet to research questions I have created for myself. Success Criteria:

  5. Turn to your partner and share anything you remember from the slide show. Did you recognise anyone? Do you know why any of these pictures are important?

  6. Martin Luther King was a pastor and he fought for civil rights, particularly against racism and discrimination. He gave a very famous speech in 1963 and was killed in 1968.

  7. President John F Kennedy was assasinated in 1963

  8. The Beatles became extremely popular all over the world, particularly America where they sparked Beatlemania.

  9. The first ever heart transplant was completed in 1967.

  10. Neil Armstrong became the first man to land on the moon in 1969.

  11. Walt Disney died in 1966.

  12. Twiggy became one of the first international supermodels and also a fashion icon .

  13. Out in 1962, Spacewar was one of the first computer games to be invented.

  14. YOU ARE GOING TO DECIDE WHAT WE LEARN ABOUT! We are all going to RESEARCH, using the internet, the Swinging Sixties, looking at things we may have seen in this slideshow and anything else we find! While you are working on the computers, you are going to take notes about the things you would like to learn about! When we come back to the classroom, we are going to get into groups and each group is going to choose ONE event/person/invention they would like to learn about!
