  4. 2019 Summer Reading Challenge Inspired by the 50thanniversary of the moon landing the theme is space chase Children taking part in the Challenge will help the super space family, The Rockets, as they track down books nabbed by mischievous aliens! As children read library books, they will collect special stickers for their colourful collector's folder. Space Chase features bespoke artwork from top children's illustrator, Adam Stower, (see https://worldofadam.com/) and will celebrate adventure, exploration, reading and fun. The Parish Council has provided a grant to purchase new books to support the reading challenge.

  5. Future As the U&C planning application is progressed it is essential there is an agreement on the provision of Library services in the Waterbeach area. Library provision is part of the S106 agreement currently under discussion. Monies for Waterbeach Library was part of the agreement on Papworth housing at the Barracks but has yet to arrive. A Library facility conveniently sited to be accessible to both the village and new development could be a way to encourage integration and build a Community. It would be ideal if this could be in the area near existing community facilities on the barracks site as if it is located in phase 1 (north corner or even by the lake) it will disadvantage current residents. Flexibility in opening times would allow additional services to be offered ranging from assistance in finding employment, CAB, adult literature, housing requirements, mother and baby groups, ie a hub facility offering numerous advice and directive to advice services, which fulfils the County Council model of hubs.
