  1. QUESTION HOW DOES THE DESIGN OF THE PAPER AIRPLANE INFLUENCE HOW FAR IT CAN FLY?

  2. BACKGROUND RESEARCH DRAG, LIFT, THRUST, AND GRAVITY ARE THE FOUR FORCES THAT AFFECT THE PAPER AIRPLANE S FLIGHT. DRAG IS A FORCE THAT CAUSES RESISTANCE TO THE PAPER AIRPLANE S FORWARD MOTION. LIFT IS THE AIR BELOW THE WINGS CAUSING A UPWARD PULL, AND THE AIR ABOVE THE WINGS CAUSING A DOWNWARD PUSH. GRAVITY IS THE FORCE THAT PULLS THE PAPER AIRPLANE BACK EARTH. THRUST IS THE FORCE THAT MAKES THE PAPER AIRPLANE MOVE FORWARD. GRAVITY AND DRAG BOTH WORK TO AFFECT THE PAPER AIRPLANE IN A NEGATIVE WAY. LIFT AND THRUST WORK TO AFFECT THE PAPER AIRPLANE IN A POSITIVE WAY. LIFT HAS TO BE EQUAL TO OR GREATER THAN THE FORCE OF GRAVITY IN ORDER TO MOVE UPWARD. THRUST HAS TO BE EQUAL TO OR GREATER THEN THE FORCE OF DRAG IN ORDER TO MOVE FORWARD. THE FOUR FORCES DRAG, GRAVITY, LIFT, AND THRUST HAVE A LOT TO DO WITH PAPER AIRPLANE S FLIGHT.

  6. PROCEDURES 1. FIND THE THREE PAPER AIRPLANE DESIGNS YOU WOULD LIKE TO USE. 2. MAKE YOUR CHOSEN AIRPLANE DESIGN. 3. PICK ONE PERSON TO THROW THE AIRPLANES. 4. THROW THE FIRST AIRPLANE, MEASURE THE DISTANCE IT FLYSWITH A YARD STICK, RECORD DATA. 5. REPEAT STEP 4 THREE TIMES FOR EACH AIRPLANE.

  11. CONCLUSION MY HYPOTHESIS WAS THAT IS THAT IF THE DESIGN AFFECTS THE PAPER AIRPLANE S FLIGHT THEN PAPER AIRPLANE NUMBER #2 WOULD FLY THE FARTHEST, BECAUSE OF IT S DESIGN. MY EXPERIMENT SUPPORTED MY HYPOTHESIS. I THINK THAT MY EXPERIMENT WENT GREAT BUT, THE WAY WE THREW THE PAPER AIRPLANE MIGHT HAVE HINDERED THE PAPER AIRPLANE S FLIGHT. SO, I THINK A FUTURE EXPERIMENT COULD BE THROWING THE PAPER AIRPLANE WITH OUT A LOT OF WIND. ALSO, OUR PAPER AIRPLANES CURVED BECAUSE, OF THE DIRECTION OF THE WIND.
