CD24 and FUT4 show distinct expression patterns in medulloblastoma, impacting tumor subtypes and patient outcomes. Tumors with high FUT4 and low CD24 are associated with favorable WNT subtype and better survival, while tumors with low FUT4 and high CD24 tend to have a poorer prognosis. Subgroups based on CD24/FUT4 expression reveal differences in overall survival among medulloblastoma patients.

  1. C24 and CD15 (FUT4) are not really co-expressed in MB. Tumors with high FUT4 and low CD24 are mostly the WNT MBs, Which have a much better outcome, while tumors with low FUT4 and high CD24 are mostly non_WNT MBs that do worse. See also next slide. Based on the CD24 / FUT4 expression, I defined 4 subgroups: CD24 low FUT4 low CD24 low FUT4 high CD24 high FUT4 low CD24 high FUT4 high And checked for overall survival

  2. CD24 FUT4 As expected, the groups with high FUT4 expression, which contains FUT4 expressors have a goomostly WNT MBs do much better, while the groups with low FUT4 Representing mostly non-WNTs do much worse. However, not all high FUT4 expressors are WNT MBs, and there are only a few events in these groups. Apprently also the non-WNT MB highd outcome.

  3. Indeed, the few SHH MBs with high FUT4 expression do also have a good outcome. For Group 3 it is less clear as there are only a very few cases in this group
