  2. TIPS TO FILLING OUT THE COMMON APP CREATE AN ACCOUNT USE AN EMAIL ADDRESS YOU CHECK FREQUENTLY INVITE YOUR COUNSELORS AND TEACHERS IMMEDIATELY AFTER YOU HAVE ADDED COLLEGES TO YOUR DASHBOARD RESPECTFUL AMOUNT OF TIME TO REQUEST A LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION IS 3 WEEKS!

ANY OF THE FOLLOWING INDICATORS OF ECONOMIC NEED CAN QUALIFY YOU FOR A COMMON APP FEE WAIVER: YOU HAVE RECEIVED OR ARE ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE AN ACT OR SAT TESTING FEE WAIVER YOU ARE ENROLLED IN OR ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE FEDERAL FREE OR REDUCED PRICE LUNCH PROGRAM (FRPL) FEE WAIVER YOUR ANNUAL FAMILY INCOME FALLS WITHIN THE INCOME ELIGIBILITY GUIDELINES SET BY THE USDA FOOD AND NUTRITION SERVICE YOU ARE ENROLLED IN A FEDERAL, STATE, OR LOCAL PROGRAM THAT AIDS STUDENTS FROM LOW-INCOME FAMILIES (E.G., TRIO PROGRAMS SUCH AS UPWARD BOUND) YOUR FAMILY RECEIVES PUBLIC ASSISTANCE YOU LIVE IN A FEDERALLY SUBSIDIZED PUBLIC HOUSING, A FOSTER HOME OR ARE HOMELESS YOU ARE A WARD OF THE STATE OR AN ORPHAN YOU CAN PROVIDE A SUPPORTING STATEMENT FROM A SCHOOL OFFICIAL, COLLEGE ACCESS COUNSELOR, FINANCIAL AID OFFICER, OR COMMUNITY LEADER

  7. Counselors you must invite a counselor so they can fill out the school report and upload transcripts. Colleges may require a counselor letter of recommendation Do this at minimum 3 weeks before the college application deadline Some colleges will require one or two teacher recommendations. Think about the college you are applying to, maybe a program you are applying to and then pick your recommender. RECOMMENDERS Teachers Other recommenders Coaches, employers, volunteer supervisors

  8. 1 2 3 4 5 6 From the My Colleges tab select a college and open their "Recommenders and FERPA" section. If you have not done so already, you will need to complete Invite recommenders using the invite button from each section. You may also use the "Invite Recommenders" button at the top. Select the type of invitation you would like to send. For each invitation you will need information like their name and email address. After you add a recommender, you can view their info using the Manage Recommenders button. Note that teachers, parents, and other recommenders will not receive an email invitation until you assign them to a college. To assign these recommenders, go to their section within this screen.
