  2. Todays Agenda Where did we start? With a sleeping kid surrounded by ancient artifacts, and a GOAL Where are we now, and how did we get here? It took teamwork, a lot of coffee, and many hours running around the library hiding beacons We have a working prototype Backend database + front-end dashboard + app What is our path going forward? With external support, we hope to scale up this platform

  3. Lets go back to the start Remember this sleeping kid? And those depressing search results? Our goal: Wake up kids sleeping their way through content-packed museums Empower teachers and curators to customize the museum experience for visitors How? By creating a mobile and web- based platform to extend the audience engagement lifecycle through location-based gamification of content (i.e., make museums FUN!)

  4. Content Flow: From Curators to Game Scores Web-based platform for content curation, customization, and packaging Game Designers Targeted content Curators Play the game; share your experiences with your social network Students Visiting the Museum Global Domination Visitors Engagement forever! Game App.

  5. Where are we now? Mewseum Quest Content-provider-facing component (web-based) Visitor viewpoint /real world Content + mobile, user-facing component User proximity information triggers content tied to beacon and customized for user in database Frontend dashboard (user-friendly interface; curators and teachers go here to create quizzes and view student scores) backend database (agile; feeds curator-generated questions to the app)

  6. How did we get here? Team Flip the Museum Steps we have taken so far: Outlined goal, architecture, roles and time-table for a location- based mobile game Conducted market research Collected and drafted app requirements and features with the Newseum s Paul Sparrow Completed IRB process for eventual beta testing with Barrie students UI and UX development Developed/coded component pieces based on requirements Vetted and selected an external partner to help with app design Iterated testing and de-bugging (ongoing) + Vital Raw Ingredients & Amazing Support

  7. What do the pieces of this platform look like? Parse-based back-end database Curators dashboard (user-friendly interface; curators and teachers go here to create quizzes and view student scores)

  8. What are the technological innovations? Bluetooth Low Energy One advantage of Bluetooth version 4.0 is the energy efficiency. You ll get a better battery life while you use our technology for indoor navigation. Universal and Scalable Platform One platform, universal museum experience One user, integrated experience Optimization for Content Modification, App-Download, UX and bad wi-fi To enable a better experience we optimize the architecture so you don t need to download 200MB of data at once!

  9. Main features of the app:

  10. What are our feasible next steps? Tasks accomplished Top priorities Ideal partners We have a working prototype but there s more that can be done, & we d love some help! Integrated front-end, back-end, and estimote API Beta test the app and integrate student feedback Teachers and curators, help us generate educational questions Working mobile prototype, with location- aware quiz Scale up app: more quiz content, socially networked sharing, etc. Content providers-this platform is flexible: how can you put it to use? Develop tools to help power users leverage visitor analytics Donors-can you help us make this app a reality? We need more hardware! IRB approval to work with students to test the app The road ahead is bright! A location-aware mobile game is within reach. Thanks!
