  1. SUSTAINABILITY JASKARAN SINGH DILPREET SINGH SEKHON SRIKANTH BC

  2. Project Scope- The project is about to calculate difference between error of garbage in wrong sections of bins and a survey about students opinion about sustainability. There are two types of bins in college campus, one bin is with real photos & open from top and other one is with animated Pictures & flip able cover. The project has been performed in front of Starbucks, LRC and food court are going to see the difference how accurately & wrongly did the people put garbage in the correct section of bin.

  3. Awareness and Change- Help the students and teachers to distinguish between recycle and non-recycle garbage Make the student think about how wrongly they throw garbage in in wrong section of bin because some students use to throw a lot in random section of bin.

  4. Execution- The project execution phase is the longest Phase in the project life cycle. In execution we have done survey regarding the problems people face while throwing garbage and we took reading of garbage bins as how much garbage wrongly throw in inappropriate section of the bins.

  5. Results of survey- Out of 40 Q. Do you get confused with garbage section while throwing garbage? YES = 13 NO = 27 Q. Which bin is more convenience for you while throwing garbage? (I) 6 (ii) 34 Q. Are you able to distinguish between recyclable and non-recyclable garbage? (I) YES = 32 (ii) NO = 8

  6. Q. How many times in a week you throw the garbage in random section of bin? (I) 1-3 times in a week = 22 (ii) 4-7 times in a week = 10 (iii) 8- more times in week = 8 Q. Which one of the following are recyclable garbage? (I) Plastic Bottle = 25 (ii) Coke Can = 15 (iii) Tim Horton cup = 10 (iv) Food waste = 5

  7. Result of Reading- Garbage 15 Items 10 right 5 wrong 66%right Paper Products 20 Items 20 right 0 wrong 100% right Cans/Bottles/Plastics 25 Items 18 right 7 wrong 72% right

  8. Blue Bin- Glass 8 Items 8 wrong 0 right 0% right Cans/plastic 5 Items 1 wrong 4 right 80% right Paper 12 Items 5 wrong 7 right 58%right Garbage 20 items 10 wrong 10 right 50% right

  9. Lessons learned- The results of project were good as we see that bins with real Pictures are more accurate for people to throw garbage in right place. Students are comfortable with open bins with open from as compare to bins having flip able cover Communication with office of sustainability and approvals.

  10. Recommendations- To replace the bins having animated pictures with the bins having real pictures. Minimize the sections of bins ( like making paper product section and cans, bottles & plastic a single section as recycle section) Replacing the bins having flip able cover with bins open from top.

  11. Team work- Work was divided into two section :- survey and wrong garbage reading. Working together was every effective and was able to implement the project at same time at different places. It help us to under stand the division work and increase our knowledge about sustainability.
