Served in Kairos Outside in Missouri since 2003 in various roles including Weekend Leader and Advisory Council member. Guest in 2002.   5. Better Together Kairos Inside, Kairos Outside and Kairos Torch Wrap Around each other. Address the spiritual needs of incarcerated men, women, youth and their families. Same vision, mission, statement of faith and core values. Confidentiality Code. All Weekends have carefully constructed talks, meditations and individual group activities. All programs work to change hearts, transform lives and impact the world. Volunteers can support more than one branch of ministry. Brings Christ s love and forgiveness to participants and their families though no religious affiliation is necessary to be a participant or guest.

  7. Obedience to Common Program Structure Riverbanks concept. God s Special Time or In the Fullness of Time. Incorporates curriculum designed to build and encourage prosocial character and behavior. Kairos Weekends provide an invitation for participants to choose to live in a personal relationships with Christ. Structured model includes the Weekend experience followed by guests or participants gathering regularly for accountability, support and prayer.

  9. What is the Purpose of Kairos Outside? The purpose of Kairos Outside is to demonstrate God s grace and love through Christian support for women who have relatives/friends who are or who have been incarcerated, and to former residents of correctional institutions who did not have the opportunity to attend a Kairos Inside Weekend while they were incarcerated.

  10. What is Kairos Outside? Provides a safe place! Creates an opportunity for a relationship with God. Offers unconditional love & acceptance in a Christian setting. Fosters spiritual growth and community. Unites the families that have been impacted by incarceration. Lowers recidivism. Includes a women only 2 day Christian weekend Based on a series of talks and meditations by volunteers to address the pain of enduring separations from one inside without judgement.

  11. How and Why Did Kairos Outside Get Started? Kairos Prison Ministry created in 1979. In 1989 a chaplain at San Quentin Correctional Facility in California asked Kairos to create a program that would minister to the female family members that were affected by incarceration. In doing so, it united the families in GOD. Thereby, lowering the rate of recidivism.

  12. How Many Kairos Outside Communities Are There? There are currently 87 worldwide communities. You can select a state or country from the Where we Serve page on either Kairos Prison Ministry websites to see the location of Kairos Outside groups.

  13. Importance of Men in Kairos Outside They are the be SERVANTS, Jesus with skin on, representing how a Godly man acts. Men are the Kitchen Team. Feed spiritually, emotionally and physically. Kitchen Team Responsibilities May manage the kitchen, but they are to remain in prayer for guests and team and to pray over speakers prior to talks or meditations. Serve guests in a humble, Godly manner and provide entertainment throughout the Weekend. What men should not do Men should not be seen on Friday night nor show affection to their significant other if on the same team. Never enter the community room after 6pm on Friday.   16. Kairos Outside Advisory Council Foundation and governing body of the Kairos Outside community. Oversees functions and activities including chooses Weekend leaders. Operates by the Advisory Council procedures (ACOP). Operates under the authority of the State Chapter Committee. Twelve required positions on the advisory council.

  17. Kairos Outside Continuing Ministry Goal of all Kairos Ministries Achieve accountability through spiritual grouping. Strength and support for life s journey. Growth in personal relationships. Supports the Kairos Outside Community Reunions & SWAP Groups allow women to grow in Christian faith and become active members of the Kairos Outside community.

Kairos Outside Continuing Ministry - Reunions Open to all former Guests, their spouses and possibly children, potential Guests and team members (male and female) Provide communication and connection for the support system started on the Kairos Outside Weekend to continue growing. Opportunity to meet and socialize with consistent exposure in sharing their lives with others. Allow connection to larger Kairos Outside community. Ideally - Monthly meetings held in varying location Hosted by volunteers in the area and not on a rigid schedule Anywhere from a few hours to an entire day.

  19. Kairos Outside Continuing Ministry SWAP Groups S.W.A.P Share, Witness, Account & Pray. Weekly small groups (3-5 people) Meet on a regular basis to form trust and security. Demonstration of love and support that began on the Kairos Outside Weekend. Shows God s love through support to the individual. Works to solidity the trust in God s love. Allows people to break free from isolation.
