Building a Kairos Torch Community Lindaand Woodie Wood

Goals 1. For those who have not yet attended a Kairos Torch Weekend to receive an overview of the program components. 2. For all to understand how and why the components are intended to impact the youth and their environment. 3. For all to understand how the method of tactile and kinesthetic learning engages youth and connects them in a healthy way to the adult volunteers.

What is Kairos Torch? a positive, interactive, and thought-provoking program for young offenders 25 and under Kairos Torch encourages these youth to realize their God-given potential through the creation of a safe environment, a loving caring and trusting community. (from KT manual, p.2l6)

Pre-Weekend Team Recruitment Majority of team needs to be willing to mentor Men and women- age requirements Maturity a key consideration

Pre-Weekend Team Formation Training 5 full day sessions Primary purpose: community building Youth Recruitment Only criteria for weekend is willingness to attend and Facility Administrator s approval.
